Re: 24 GB Ram, is it too much as of today.

I upgraded my computer last christmas, and I got 64GB of DDR4 RAM. A little worried that it's not enough, but sadly that's all my poor mobo could use. :( Just kidding, I'm sure it's enough for now and for some time to come. My plan is to not have to upgrade again for some years. And also, one use ca...

Re: [2-1 PSO] CbRenderOp not exported in dll

Well, doesn't hurt to have it in both places? An issue tracker is good to find open issues, while a forum is a good place to discuss the issue. :)

(I also don't like Jira much, tbh. Or any other issue tracker I've worked with...)

Re: [2.1] some Cleanup questions

If you're doing esoteric stuff (like consciously mixing Debug and Release), having the "_d" suffix is better. without "_d" stuff like this would crash in your face if you would try mixing.. which I would consider a good thing. No, mixing debug and release builds would crash in your face. The _d suf...

Re: Terrain Paging and Bullet

So basically the endless world example is useful for graphics only and some self-written physics, but as soon as you want to access the terrain that it stores in the page handler, it gets ridiculously useless. Hmm, too bad..I will see if I find your mentioned tutorial. Thanks for the information! W...

Re: Terrain Paging and Bullet

I guess this is a problem you get as soon as you start trying to combine any two subsystems, doesn't matter if they are graphics and physics (object is handled by physics and should interact with terrain, both object and terrain should be rendered), graphics and sound (rocket should be rendered, and...

Overlay singleton overhaul

Hi, I modified the Overlay component to not declare any internal components as singletons. This way I could very easily render different overlays on different viewports, without having to resort to any weird rendertarget listeners or renderqueue magic. I also updated the other parts of Ogre that use...

Re: Terrain Paging and Bullet

Unloading the terrain from the graphics part surely doesn't mean you have to unload it from the physics engine? Sounds scary to be an NPC in that world, hero turns away from you and suddenly you're free-falling...

Impostors. You can add any MovableObject to be handled by an ImpostorManager, and it will automatically switch between the impostor and the real thing, and keep the impostor image updated.

so any idea how am I supposed to use lighting with billboards?
Calculate the normal you want in the shader?
Use auto_param to send a normal-like value to the shader?
Implement your own Billboard system?
Modify the Ogre code to include normals?

Re: Max billboards in billboardset?

Is that a built-in feature or a custom thing? Searching for that I was seeing some posts about custom shaders for something about adjusting a billboards size but nothing with any working code sample. Any additional info on that would be great. A point is fine, just need it bigger than a pixel wide ...

You can use point billboards to reduce the vertex count to 1 per billboard.

Re: billboard normals not facing camera

Billboard vertices don't have normals? Edit: Found the relevant part of the BillboardSet code. This is what you get in your billboard vertices: /* Alloc positions ( 1 or 4 verts per billboard, 3 components ) colours ( 1 x RGBA per vertex ) indices ( 6 per billboard ( 2 tris ) if not point rendering ...
