Compose texture at runtime (for RPG-style clothes)

Hi, I want to make a piece of code that does the same thing you see in loads of rpg games: dress your character with armor and arm it with weapons. For example as in world of warcraft or dungeon siege. So, to attach shield, sword, helmet, etc I would use attachObjectToBone. I got this working, see t...

What I enjoy about RPG's is the collecting bit. I never get tired of finding an even better weapon then I allready have. Or collecting ingredients to make one (like gems and socketed items in Diablo II). I'm always curious what next I will find. Rare and very rare items should be present and them sh...

Just a suggestion. If your video-card is anything like mine (radion8500), drawing pixels (especially with a lot of alpha) is more expensive then polygons, so if you you have expensive materials maybe try your scene with plain colored poly's or something? [offtopic]Has anyone got pointers on this 'ba...

Conclusion

Thanks all you replying and voting. As it turns out, most people seem to like end-bosses and on these things you seem to agree: - has to fit in the storyline of the game - boss should have better AI rather then more hitpoints and more damage - the challenge in fighting the boss should fit in the ove...

No, so if you have any hints on what characters and spells to use on that female devil, I might replay the game some time. It was that good.

An example of a really good boss is Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Basicly, the enemies get more difficult and in come in bigger groups as the game progresses. They also come in different combinations. The final fight is when you are in a closed space (no escape), have to protect the lady and figh...

What do yo think about bosses in games? (poll)

Most action, adventure and rpg games have bosses in them at the end of every level. I myself hate boss scenes because I'm very bad at them and I find them boring and repetative. Also, they usually have a different gameplay then the game. Also, in a lot of games you have to repeat the whole level to ...

so why not say (x, y, z) = (x, z, -y) or something? 90 degree rotations are always easy to do without special math functions

I want to make a similar game. In it, the "action" would refer not only to shooting or kicking but especially to jumping, rolling climbing, as in Prince of Persia. I image that when you level, you can choose to increase your maximum jumping or falling height, so you can go back to where you were bef...
