Re: Adobe Alchemy port

Praetor, Thanks for the reply! That definitely sheds some light on the issue. Do you think PixelBender | http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/pixelbender/ would be able to handle some of the video card features ogre needs? I can assure you it can't. PixelBender is basically a very limited pixel shade...

Re: Resident Evil Game Engine, is there?

2.5D (in terms of RE-clones) are 3D games with pre-rendered backgrounds. Remember PS1's Final Fantasy games? Those are more examples. It's actually quite an easy feature to add. You just need two things: - Place the background image (Rectangle2D class) - Place very low level occluding models (things...

Re: Animation by code

Even better. Think it this way. When you used premade animations, you're querying a lookup table. If you do that through code, you're calculating the values yourself (which is more expensive). If you're blending 3 animations, that performance difference is even bigger. I still bet for the premade an...

Re: virtualbox render system exception

The point is that Ogre is a realtime rendering engine. Nice-looking graphics at decent speeds can't be done (well, it's possible but not acceptable nowadays). You would have to choose between 320x240 or <1 FPS.

Re: Animation by code

Nope, but the opposite. You'll only gain in disk space, and I'm not really sure about that. My suggestion is to bake the different animations in Blender and then use them sequentially. Even procedural animation systems like Natural Motion's often use hand-made animations as a basis for the animation...

Re: CMake build system for Cthugha *looking for testers*

Okay, finally decided to give CMake a try with the SVN version, and for some reason I can't build the OpenGL render system plugin. CMake just can't find the package, although it's actually there. $ pkg-config --modversion gl 7.3.0 So tried to add a package to the scripts strongly based on the OpenGL...

Re: is there an easy way to get cel shading

Yes, it's possible, of course :) But note it doesn't use the model's texture. You should add another sampler to the shader (and another texture unit with the real object texture), then take the texture colour in the shader, and then multiply the lighting and the texture colour to tint it. Anyways, t...

Re: is there an easy way to get cel shading

I once managed to do it by just using a spheric (though I recommend cubic) reflection map. It actually works, but I suggest it just as a fallback when shaders aren't supported. I find the shaders much better (higher customisation level and better-looking results)

That's up to you. Sometimes you will want to clamp it, and sometimes you'll want to wrap it. Would you tile that texture? If so, wrap it. Otherwise, clamp it ;)

Re: Find the color of a vertex?

I'm afraid you're mixing concepts here... First of all, pixel boxes are "raw" images. The "uint8" data type should hint that the possible values are integers in the range [0, 255]. Then, they only store colour information, not texture coordinates. Now, assuming you meant that you...

Is there anything left your portals don't do? :D They don't eliminate bugs. In fact, they create them. In very, very large magnitudes   Yeah, that's what happens when you mess around with physics laws and wormholes :P Remember Half-life? Those portals also spawned "bugs"
