We got mentioned in Game Developer

Post by sinbad »

:)

It's not a big mention, but in the most recent Game Developer magazine, they had an article about Indie development, and whilst Garage Games stole the limelight (as usual ;)), the article did state that there are several quality open source resources available now, and OGRE was listed in their sidebar, with a link to ogre3d.org. Other projects like GIMP and Blender were mentioned too, but we were the only 3D engine listed. :P

This reminds me that Ogre was also mentioned in Develop magazine a couple of months ago. Just a short paragraph or two in a side box, I can't remember off hand what the subject of the article was however...

Bleh! I worked with Torque for a year. T'was the most horrible experience I ever had. Basically, the code is a real mess and it was a real nice change when I moved to Ogre even it if meant I would have to provide the game platform myself.

Ogre is also mentioned in the August issue of the French magazine Joystick, with a few screenshots (Ankh, the curling game, and a couple of other ones I forgot). That's how I discovered Ogre a few weeks ago, and I'm really impressed at how powerful and well designed it looks, congrats & many thanks to the authors! :D

In polish July edition of Software Developer's Journal there's a big article about RealmForge and Axiom. Of course, OGRE is also mentioned.

The RealmForge article which discusses OGRE is featured on the front page of the Software Developer's Journal which is named after it. It is published in several different languages including english and polish.
