These look extremly beautyful. I was not aware of this project before. I guess the stunning quality warrants a mainpage news entry. :D

I just hope the game wouldn't make OGRE licensing change and let our team stick with this cool technology for future projects. :D

FPS: I got 15-60 of them in missions. Cool enough for an RTS, more than enough for an air sim. Plain environment with no units gives better result, something over 100 fps. We are usung an old OGRE version but modified it a little to optimize performance.
My PC configuration: P4 3Hz, 1Gb RAM, GeForce 6600GT

This is a performance killer test screenshot. 200 high-poly Уamatо battleships each firing fom its 200 high-poly main caliber guns and turrets. FPS is 9 and falls to 2 when they fire. :)

don't you use mesh and material LOD? :)
This is the first action game I've seen in ogre that looks truly pro.

We're using manually created meshes for LOD switching. The situation when you simultaneously see 200 Yamatos will never happen in the real gameplay process. Usually you have 5-15 ships, 50-100 planes and 20-60 FPS.

surely, we do. the main burden is not on the graphical card but on the CPU loaded with AI and particle effects in that performance test.

ah, of course. I wonder if lodding particle fx would help, ie spawn different detail fx based on distance.
A few other questions :)
Do you a custom scenemanager?
Do you use cegui at all?
What culling rules do you use? I notice there's some nice ground detail close up.
What optimisations/changes did you need to add to ogre?
Any other libs you use?
Thanks, really looking forward to play it :)
