Here are some photos taken at the Paris Air Show 2009, showing a rover simulator for the upcoming ESA Exomars mission which uses OGRE for rendering, and which was being presented at the Oerlikon stand.
You might also be interested in seeing pictures of a larger model: http://www.planete-mars.com/image_semai ... php?id=779
I hope you'll concur with me that this is very, very cool.
Note: I'm posting this on behalf of some of the people involved in the project, because they can't really say any more about the project right now so would prefer to publish these by proxy rather than have to be rude and ignore questions from the community. So I'll ignore the questions for them instead I should also say that this is actually not the first involvement of OGRE in a space program-related simulator project, but I can't talk about the other one I know about, so don't ask, because it's torture to not be able to tell you

First open source render engine in space? Surely there must be some prize for that
very cool stuff!
Whoa - so you're like a top secret nasa scientist as well now?sinbad wrote:I should also say that this is actually not the first involvement of OGRE in a space program-related simulator project, but I can't talk about the other one I know about, so don't ask, because it's torture to not be able to tell you

Re: Exomars Rover Sim @ Paris Air Show 2009
I laughed at the sentence at Planete-Mars website :
"Enfin, sur le stand vous pourrez vous essayer au pilotage du rover ExoMars à la surface de Mars grâce à un simulateur. Totalement fait en images de synthèse, il faut reconnaître que s'il a le mérite d'exister, il n'est pas d'une très bonne facture. Les paysages notamment sont assez décevants..."
Tranlsation : "Finally, at the stand, you'll be able to drive the ExoMars rover on Mars planet surface using a simulator. Entierly done in computer imagery, even if it have the deserve of existing, he's not very well done. The landscapes in particular are really disappointing..."
(Sorry for the bad translation ^^)
So sinbad, you're not a good artist !

They must be wizards of marketing!
And they don't look disappointing at all to me, they are on par with any recent game... if mars is ugly it isn't Ogre's fault
