Re: Dwarf Fortress remake looking to move to Ogre

Ogre, in my opinion, would be overkill for that type of game. Stick with SDL or SFML.

Re: Good/Bad Design?

Got it, thanks. For some reason that always confuses me :oops:

GetRoot should be implemented like this, correct?

Code: Select all

Root RootManager::GetRoot(void)
{
	return *mRoot;
}

Re: Good/Bad Design?

Thank you :D Does this look good? class RootManager { public: RootManager() {}; ~RootManager() { delete mRoot; }; void Initialise(); Root getRoot(); private: void SetupRoot(); Root* mRoot; //if there was an error, try to cleanly shut down bool Error; }; Obviously I'll need to comment everything :lol...

Thanks! I'll try that. Each manager should be in a separate .h file, correct?

Good/Bad Design?

Re: Is this anti-aliasing problem?

I'm constructing the render window myself but calling m_root->getRenderSystem()->setConfigOption("Anti aliasing", "Level 2") before m_root->initialize(false); Calling setConfigOption didn't work for me either, but an easy way to get it working is to just use this when creating your window: //these ...

You can do that with OGRE and OIS. OIS is included with OGRE so it's a very easy task. There's a tutorial on using OIS, too.

Re: Starting up

OGRE is a library for use with C++, there is no way to "start" it, you must tell it what to do. I recommend you read this:

Re: ogre.exe encounters a problem

The ./Plugins just tells OGRE to use the Plugins folder inside the current directory, which was debug. It's much better than using the path c:\ blah blah whatever because not all systems will be set up the same. The #if OGRE_PLATFORM == OGRE_PLATFORM_APPLE thing is just to make sure to get the right...

I bought the A780GXE a while back and it didn't come with one either. It came with the graphics card I bought (an MSI 9600GT) check your graphic's card box for one. :wink:

Yes, but you run into issues later on when fixing bugs or adding new features. It's usually not recommended to do this.

Re: New PSU

Forgot to post about how the new hardware is. :D It's extremely awesome! There's almost no noise from anywhere in my computer now (surprisingly). What sucks is that my CPU is a huge bottleneck, scoring only 617 in 3DMARK06. Many games that I play rely on the CPU heavily, and I can't ever get a good ...
