Re: [GSoC 2018] Idea Discussion

I guess it would be in the area of Volume Rendering. Could you formulate a concrete topic here? Hi, what immediately comes into my mind: - A new source for 3d textures. The editor Acropora seems dead by now. - A better file format for the volumes. 3d textures need more space than needed. It would b...

Re: [GSoC 2018] Idea Discussion

Hi there, (despite being rather inactive the last years) I'm still very interested in Ogre and it's ecosystem. I would like to be a mentor here if possible and usefull. :) One topic proposal which is currently holding me back to go back to Ogre: What is the state of the MacOS toolchain? Fix anything...

Re: [1.9]Impossible to build on macOS. Things are really bro

As I would like to contribute every now and then to Ogre and my current computer is a Mac, too, I would love to see this solved. This list is a rather good beginning I would say? So maybe a PR with your first patches is a good start so other people facing the same problems don't need to begin their ...

Re: [GSoC 2016] Idea Discussion

Might be combined to have enough work for a full GSoC: Make the Volume Component compatible with 1.10, 2.0 and 2.1. Adding new volume sources is always good Fix some small issues like always scaling 3D texture volume sources with a factor which was needed to display Acropora ( http://www.voxelogic.c...

Re: Ogres Volume Component

Wow, great to see. :) Even if I've been too passive about this project in the last months, it still means a lot to me and I actually want to continue it of course: Does it work with Ogre 1.10? If not, I want to make it work. Same with Ogre 2.0 and 2.1 There is a hack/magic number inside scaling the ...

Re: What is the Simplest Collision System You Can Think Of?

Sphere vs. Sphere is more than easy but might not do it here.
Axis Aligned Bounding Boxes are simple, too. But I think you want to rotate your entities. So Bounding Boxes would do it IMHO.

Hi,

you might have a look at the Terrain-Example with the editing capabilities. This should show how a volume is updated on the fly.

What worries me here is the history of a page as you said, too. As an user, I want to be able to follow the updates of the Wiki and see the differences between the updates of a single page. I want to select the versions to compare. A second thing is the creation and linking of pages. In a Wiki, I ca...

Re: Godot Engine Reaches 1.0

About the scripting, this is some reasoning behind it why they have written their own language and how everything is architected so you could exchange it. Wheras I think, too, stuff like scripting belongs to one of the established, existing languages. Initially, Godot was designed to support multipl...

Godot Engine Reaches 1.0

This looks quite interesting:
http://www.godotengine.org/wp/godot-eng ... st-stable/

They say they have a lack of a renderer. Could Ogre3D a choice here? This would be brillant as the editor looks decent.

Re: What happend with Ogre?

Is there any material available for Umbra like papers so someone could write an own implementation as Ogre plugin?

// Edit
Actually, you get the idea here: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/1 ... hp?print=1
Would make a good GSOC if no patent is on it.

If you leave out the material LOD for now: chunk->setMaterialOfLevel(0, "triplanarReferenceLow"); chunk->setMaterialOfLevel(1, "triplanarReferenceLow"); chunk->setMaterialOfLevel(2, "triplanarReferenceLow"); Does it work then? Is the material "triplanarReferenceLow" existing? (I guess so)

No need to look at the source for this information. New Graphics API from Apple: Metal

Hi, Apple just presented a new graphics API named Metal. It seems to follow the trend to be closer to the hardware like Mantle or DX12. Drawback: Looks like it is only available for Objective C. Made a pass through Apple's #Metal docs. Looks nice enough. Shame it is Obj-C. https://twitter.com/ID_AA_...
