Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 12.03.2016

I was hoping someone could help a noobie wanting to learn OGRE. I downloaded all the items on the first page that referred to VC140 x64. I then followed these installation instructions: http://www.ogre3d.org/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Installing+the+Ogre+SDK I got to the part where it says to ope...

Sorry for the imprecision. I mean the 4th link in the first post Dependencies-vc140-x64-12.03.2016.7z gives a 404. Thanks Somebody reported that file to Google. :( I don't know what's wrong, because I didn't receive any message they just lock the file. I've uploaded the file again, it should...

Re: Scene Editor For Ogre3D

I think, I have the latest Ogitor builds in my download thread and they are verry old. In fact, Ogitor is only practical for Ogre 1.x and maybe 2.0. Also, the project is dead and you'll have problems on verry large scenes.

I recommend you to use Blender (DERGO) or create an own scene format.

Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 12.03.2016

I'm finishing my Jenkins CI System. So, I'll create new packages aggain. At the moment there are already 28 libraries in my build stream: assimp, boost, bulletphysics, bzip2, cairo, curl, FreeImage, freetype2, glsl-optimizer, hlsl2glsl, libosmscout, libpng, libxml2, lua, marisa, OGRE-default, OGRE-2...

Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 12.03.2016

I'm rebuilding my build infrastructure. After a hdd crash my development data are damaged. I'll need at least two weeks to fix everything. I'll use this accident to change the build scripts. I'll use Jenkins-CI instead of batch files, which allows me to connect multiple computers at once to build og...

Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 12.03.2016

Dude, can you add DirectX9 backend to 2.0 release please? DirectX 9.0 has been dropped of Win10/VS2015 because of http://ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83944. I don't want to modify the code on each build, so dropping DX9 is much more comfortable. You can find the DX9 renderer in the Win7/VS...

In Release it works, but on Debug Freetype isnt used (only dds support for textures).
Which Ogre package? I've checked all four packages, and FreeType is working with all of them.

Re: Help building Ogre 1.10

This is some weird SDK thing I haven't nailed yet, but searching for D3DCompiler_47.dll in your Windows folder, and copy pasting it to where SampleBrowser is will fix that. Make sure you grab the correct dll (x86 vs x64 dlls). For example in my Windows 7 machine they're located in: C:\Windows\winsx...

Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 12.03.2016

I use a lot of batch files to compile ogre, because I've automated most build steps. This is a part of my CMake build command for Ogre 1.10 - but it works! cmake.exe -D Boost_DIR:PATH=E:\Work\SDKs\vc120-x64\boost -D Boost_INCLUDE_DIR:PATH=E:\Work\SDKs\vc120-x64\boost -D OGRE_DEPENDENCIES_DIR:PATH=E:...

Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 13.02.2016

I tried the samples to see if it works correctly, but I get the following error message: Can not find codec for 'png' image format. I tried OGRE-SDK-1.9.0-vc120-x64-13.02.2016.7z and It works properly. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the report. I'll check my build scripts and create a new version.

Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 13.02.2016

You should install VS2015 with "Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.0/8.1 Tools" and select VS2013 toolchain in CMake - VS2015 will propose to upgrade solution (decline), but will build it using Win8.1 SDK. All IDE features of VS 2015 would be available. BTW, if Win10 is unstable for you - test your me...

Re: [VS/Win] Snapshot 13.02.2016

VS2012 is building on Windows 7, VS2015 on Windows 10. To enable all features of VS2015 you have to use Win 8.x or newer and I don't have a Win 8.x license, so I've upgraded one computer to Win 10. I'm not happy with that solution, because Win 10 is very unstable.

@ Transporter Thanks for sparking the idea. You're welcome! I build my own NAS because at that point it was cheaper than buying a comercial solution. If you buy a complete Solution you don't have to take care about the OS. On the other hand if you install Ubuntu Server LTS (for example) you'll have...

I've build my own NAS a few years ago. I use a Point Of View ION mainboard with Intel Atom 330 (http://www.pointofview-online.com/showr ... &site_id=2) and 2 GB RAM. The board has 4 SATA-II ports for hard drives and a very low power consumption.

Re: STL background ressourceloading threading

Replacing boost/TBB threading with C++11 is not an option, because C++11 is not available in all compilers! There are a lot of people which are still using VS2010, VS2012 or VS2013 and not VS2015. As c6burns has noted, a wrapper for POSIX and WIN32 is required. An additional option could be C++11 th...

Ogre is just a rendering framework. You can create your own scene format or use an existing format:
  • DotScene/ogscene (used by Ogitor)
  • OGF (Ogitor 2)
  • OpenGEX
  • OpenSCENARIO
