Re: Visual Studio 2015 released

well I got it installed didn't use the it in beta and ... what changed lol all looks the same :) I know of course internals have compilers frameworks etc. But looks like the IDE only got minimal changes in this version. The main IDE change is that it's a bit more responsive and so far didn't totall...

Re: Visual Studio 2015 released

right click shortcut -> change icon :) But that means I've got to actually do something. I prefer the "MS did it for me" version. :) Completely agree not sure why they didn't, even just changing the colour. My suspicion is that they want to follow the same logic as with Windows: provide a "continuo...

Re: Visual Studio 2015 released

Yes, the patch would imply to remove this code with vc14+: #ifdef _WIN32 #define snprintf _snprintf #define lfind _lfind #endif // _WIN32 (in tif_config.h) I did it before and everything compiles fine once it's removed (adding a check on vc version would be great). Unfortunately I couldn't run the s...

Re: Visual Studio 2015 released

I've been using the RC for some time but mostly with Unity (for some quick small projects), the plugin works well. There were a few bugs but being able to debug unity code into visual studio is very useful. For C++ I compiled/fixed all my game project with it but didn't want to spend time on boost s...

Re: Ogre WIP and random screenshot thread (for everyone!)

Yeah I know it is a really important game, in particular if you liked the first Deus Ex and Thief. I bought it some years ago on GOG but didn't yet install it.

Re: Ogre WIP and random screenshot thread (for everyone!)

Wow, interesting...
Maybe they had something wrong going on at some point and fixed it with some kind of game-specific hack because it was faster to do.
It happen a lot in japanese game devs. In occidentals too but far less often.

Re: Ogre + enet? Ogre + RakNet?

I prefer RakNet because it's (as far as I know) higher level abstraction for networking and specialized in solving games problems (and doing so in a lot of commercial games).

However, I didn't try enet so I don't have practice with it.

Re: Argh!

Yep I did. But there is almost no dust inside (and I still did cleanup). After I checked inside I tried RockSmith agian with the same issue. What's strange is that it don't do it with all apps using the gpu, so it might be because rocksmith uses a lot of gpu which could make sense because they do a ...

My laptop is dying and I don't have enough money to buy one (in one time). I think the gpu overheated once and since then it just shut-down immediate emergency-style when I run RockSmith for less than 5 minutes. At least I can still compile and code but still... I had to reinstall everything recentl...

Re: What game are you playing now?

Well, it's a game about ambiance and mistery and scary things happening, so I think it's perfect to show what the hell this is about. There are shorter trailers of the game from last year around by the way. If it works well you will not be switching attention in the middle. I didn't so I think it wo...

Maybe the cooling system works less well and there is a mechanism to slow down the processor to avoid heat?

Re: What game are you playing now?

I guess the true reason is that allowing the PC to have better graphics by default would hurt sells of console vendors, which the devs rely on to get the most important part of their benefits. I'm almost certain that there will be a easy tweak to activate better graphics on PC by changing some confi...

Oh nice! :D
Did you have time to take a look at the other APIs? I didn't find the time to answer you with more precisions about what I meant (I think the actual core issue might be hiding objects management from users, which is always problematic).

[2.1] ObjectId small improvements

I didn't yet integrate Ogre 2.1 in my project (I miss some features/related projects to update before finally being able to do it) I was reading https://bitbucket.org/sinbad/ogre/src/4cf84ee3b935416e0386a6616a8ae9aa8988e9db/OgreMain/include/OgreId.h?at=v2-1 Questions: 1.
