I get it in french, it said that european parlement say no to sofware patent again.

We shouldn't fool ourself: The directive will come eventually. Question is where the line between "computer implemented" and "software" is drawn... :?

The so-called software patent directive, rejected by a 648-14 vote with 18 abstentions...
Man, that's a pretty one-sided vote :P

Reading a little further:
The move kills the legislation since the EU head office, which had drafted it, does not plan to set forth a new version.

Today is a very good day. There will be more challenges down the line, but hopefully this signifies that at least the EU parliament listened to the real issues and decided not to be bought in the same way as the US government has been on this.
