Hmm, apparently both source forge and code.google have started blocking access from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria.

I thought it was the other way 'round?
Are they striking back?
Maybe people should fight back and boycott those services.
Makes them no better than the countries they are blocking, IMO.

Right. It's the US and it's fight against terrorism:
The countries banned are those that the US government considers to be supporters of terrorism. As a US company, Sourceforge cannot export goods (including software) to any of those countries without a license.
Looks like we can't blame Google, nor Sourceforge..

Correct, it's a legal issue -- since both of those organizations are based in the US they have to follow US law about export restrictions. Obviously Google is US-based, but so is SF (less obviously):
SourceForge.net is owned and operated by Geeknet, Inc., a publicly traded US-based company.

Probably you can download from mirrors located in other parts of world like UK, australia...

Or you can use public proxy server - I dont know if this is illegal but it can wo1rk around blocking firewall

Here is one download link (MSVC2005) from uk, but it appears to still have sourceforge.net attach to the end of it, so it probably still doesn't work:

it isn't good way for fighting against terrorism or another thing.
terrorism became form poverty, ignorance and ... (maybe like dogma) in this countries .
with this job, us help terrorism to save their poverty of peoples, dogma and another things.

one thing you can do, although it might be slow, is to use TOR :

Seems like Sourceforge worked around the problem. Projects now can explicitely allow access from blacklisted countries :)
