New-age Sinbad Mascot

So, combine a whole day free, plus a lot of dubstep, and a need to model (or re-model) something, what do you get ? Well - something like this :D

It took a while to render, but the result is pretty satisfying, and so the re-modeled Sinbad mascot is here, in new trontastic clothes and weaponry :)
I'm planning to redo the Character demo, with my model, and implement some of the GSoC effects as well as some other ones I find, to make it look as near to the pre-rendered animation as possible, but first comes cleaning up and optimizing the model, and making the materials OGRE-compatible.

Currently the low poly model is ~6-7000 vertices, which is a pretty good number, considering the original was around 6k too, but the video is still the high-poly version (subsurf added at level 1), I'm going to render another version showcasing the low-poly model, it looks almost the same, except the shoes aren't as smooth.

Thanks for the comments, and about the combat, I can imagine it, but I thing I fail when it comes to animation :D I will try to pull off something when I complete the model :)\

Wow, a compliment from the original author. My day has been made. Thanks, but it's thanks to your original work that this was even possible, as I don't do very well with organic modeling. :)

And, I actually had it in-game but the game it was in kind of sucked, so, when I finish re-writing it, I'm going to put it in again, with some better textures and shaders (if I learn enough by then).

Mind Calamity, I saw your model preview some months ago and it looks nice.
Do you want to publish the model for everybodys usage?
If so, I would propose to add it to the Ogre SDK.
Help to add information to the wiki. Also tiny edits will let it grow ... :idea:
Add your country to your profile ... it's interesting to know from where of the world you are.

Of course, I will wrap it up until April 1st, as I'm currently preoccupied with my project and school.

That was my original intention, but I guess I just uploaded it and forgot to update the post.

As for adding it to the SDK, there is a thread about improving the sample resources, I guess maybe we could put together a character demo that's not just a plane and the character itself, but an actual scene.

When I finish it I'll upload a complete and properly working version and make sure I post it here this time.

Nice to hear that you want to publish the model data.
I hope you will not forget your mission.

To have your model and a demo application in the Ogre SDK would be fine.
Perhaps the demo offers the possibility to choose, which of both Sinbad models should be displayed.
Or always display both models and give the user the possibility to switch the character.
Then the "active" one can be moved and animations started.
Nice would be a GUI, which shows the names of all available animations and the corresponding key (on the keyboard).
This is my spontaneous proposal.
Help to add information to the wiki. Also tiny edits will let it grow ... :idea:
