Well said. Too bad these people don't devote their talents on something that is funny or useful.

I can't believe I just had to read that. Some people just don't have any respect for anybody else at all. I hope whoever did this spends the rest of his miserable life in complete isolation.

I'm pretty sure this site isn't hosted on SF.

Yes it is, and no SF doesn't keep backups of MySQL. I have a backup from a few weeks back which I'll be attempting to merge back in later, but any posts to those 2 forums since then are lost.

They have full backups of everything, but its only used for "host failure
(i.e. all storage within both primary and backup hosts fails) or as result of complete, catastrophic loss of all site hardware."

So no, they wont help.

hmm, that's unfortunate :(

Perhaps they could make an exception for the sourceforge project of the month though.

I've recovered as much as I can. We lost around 2000 posts, but that's better than the 15000 that were originally deleted.

It's a shame that there are people actually spent time on destroying other peoples property. In some countries their hands would be chopped off.
Unfortunately, this is the downside of popularity.

Seriously, there should be an attempt to track down the intrusion if possible. I'm not sure if there is any IP logging that can be referred to.

So some script kiddie thinks he's cool. I wish there was a reality check wake up call that could be made.

Oh and also - I would be willing (not that you need it probably) to store a remote zip or whatever archive on my domain (ftp for example).

One more thing I think phpBB updated to I think 2.013?? or similar recently. You may want to check and upgrade.
