Alternative to CEGUI? (part II)

Anything and everything that's related to OGRE or the wider graphics field that doesn't fit into the other forums.

Maybe it's just me, but I've seen enough screenshots from kde-look.org to believe that GTK has enough skinning capabilities to look quite good in a game, and professional for data-intensive areas like options / server selections / data grids.

(I set my GTK to use KDE themes via some Qt theme engine for GTK.)

I was kinda shocked when I saw Baghira on KDE, which replaced everything with unrecognizable graphics (and pretty cool ones, thanks to the fine artists at Apple.)

As for unskinned GTK, I don't think it's fit for any computer, game or not!

I'm sorry, but are you people saying that these toolkits can work *IN* the renderer???

No, I don't think Gtk or others can be used IN the renderer. The renderer is IN the toolkit.

For me and GTK+, that's the idea. GTK has isolated the rendering to a fairly small API called GDK. There already exist several GDK implementations: for Win32, X11, DirectFB, pixbuf and maybe others (soon Cairo, which has an OpenGL backend called Glitz).

Of course, there may be several issues, like performance, resource management, and window management, but I think it's worth a shot. (Once it makes it to the top of my priority list, that is.)

A boy managed to fit CEGUI to Irrlicht. We all were happy, but one
day we compiled it in Linux, and the world was crashed for us -
if u undersand, what i mean.

The eventHandler for CEGUI in linux do not work properly - f.e. if u try to type some characters in the edit field, and some elements were showed wrong ;-)

Then you need to get that 'a' (which should be 'an' at least) away, you can't count open source... or maybe you can, but mostof the people can't. Or you can say 'an open source project', that will also sound correct.
BTW, I think you can perfectly make commercial stuff with LGPL.
