I'm new to Ogre.

Does particle universe still work in Ogre 2.x? I've been having a fair bit of trouble compiling an Ogre 1.8.1 build and I wanted to use particle universe, so I was wondering if I just compiled 2.1 would .pu plugin still work?

no, you need Ogre 1.x for it. (e.g. 1.11)

Ok, thanks for that. Is there somewhere I can find a tutorial to build 1.11? I've gone through everything i can find, but haven't be able to compile a successful build yet. Seems like I'm missing some fundamental piece of the puzzle.

I use particle universe with 2.1, you need to compile the correct branch and make sure you update materials. I say this, but I use the most basic particle systems, and that is all I have tested. Any more complicated particles systems I can not guarantee I am afraid!
