I'm assuming it will be a public download for the play-test?
Yes definately.

Yes definately. The more machines and the more players the better.

I have updated the website with more info on how the Combat will work. We have gone for a 'Reverse Tug-of-war' approach which is prototyping well.

I look forward to testing this, I'm not a big fan of RTS, purely because I hate micro management.

Latest screenies featuring the GUI and combat. We have freed the camera up a bit to make the most of the planet height data.

In the first image you can see the combat developing.

In the second, the final gui, put together using a combination of CEGUI, Overlays for the Graph and the Lua scripts to tie it all together. As you can see as you compare the two images, the Gui fades and shrinks when the mouse is not near by.

Yes, this is a very impressive game. Wanted to play a game like this ever since the day I first played with the geophere in UFO: X-Com :)

Looks though, as if the cities are offset'ed from the ground, or just plain wrongly positioned :) Sad to see that Berlin was positioned right ontop of Denmark in the last screenshot :)

Keep up the good work.

I don't know if this has changed since the 1st of August  but at the time, the information such as the cities and the areas own by each sides were displayed on a sphere slightly bigger than the earth itself.

In fact, most of the time, the camera is above the earth and looking at its centre; in that configuration, all the cities are in the right; but when you toggle to semi-free mode, you get this effect.

Well, all I wanted to say is, thanks, Dave knows geography

Are you streaming your imagery from somewhere? I like your scenemanager too... How close can you zoom in? Does it handle LOD with distance like google earth?
Bridge ahead. Pay troll. :-)
