you can download Tork Demo v0.1 from http://testere.oyungelistirici.net/

We've been developing a racing game named Tork using Ogre, Physx and OpenAL. Project started about 2 months ago and we hope to finish the project in a short time. Currently, looking for volunteered artists. Here are some screen shots of the game.

Your game and especially the cars look really great! However, in the first screenshot I didn't expect a car shadow right in front of the lights ;)

thanks for the comment, we'll handle that, by the way these cars are as you may already know, all free stuff from the net...

Looks great, i really like the affect of the tire spin out with the particle work. I am wondering from the shots i only see one car on the screen at a time. Does the game have a AI for enemy cars? I am very interested because i am working on a racing game and vehicle AI drives me insane. Now i am focused on internet multiplayer. It drives me equally insane with all the jitter.

I call them enemy because i hope that my racing game will have some shooting ability, so yeah. Also after you finish your AI is there any way i could get a look at your source to see how you handled it?

Hi, great work.

What tools did you use for Mesh modeling, level editor, terrain?
What scene manager did you use, what scene file format?

Well some technical information you can share with us will be appreciated.

Thanks

Ernesto

Hi, after some more progress we may capture some video
@smernesto
Nothing modelled yet :) but we are waiting for some artists to join us with their work.
Terrain scene manager is used to render the landscape exported from Freeworld3d, but i dont think that the game will have terrain levels, there is no one to create good looking and appropriate terrains. Importing of objects is done via xml, similar to dot scene.

Thanks to all.

looks good, good job.
From the data on the left of the screenshots I see that you work with slip (lon and lateral), this means that you are not using the WheelShape of PhysX.
How do you handle the tyre? Raycast, sphere rolling on the ground? I'm very interested on the way you did it.

Try to use some shader on the road, it's easy to do and improves the graphic impact alot!

I'm sure Darkscythe will give a better answer but as far as I know he used the wheelshape pf PhysX

Actually I was currently working on a shader for the road

@dfacchin
Yes we used the nxwheelshape object but it took some time to make it behave realistic. You can change longitudal and lateral tyre functions while using nxwheelshape and my suggestion is to tweak the tyre functions via some gui while playing.

Ok now I got it, I tought that you were working with something like a trimesh collision and than calculate the slip ratio manually.
Eager to see your work soon!

good luck

Hello.

Nice demo!.

Nice graphics!

>>

I know its 1.0, but sure coments are welcome

Phisics:
Yeah, very nice car driving, and funny. Zonda makes fantastic loops. :)
I found that the cars take of from the road VERY easily, a real car hardly gets out of contact with the road... I really found this anoying.

even cars going really fast, hardly take off much from the ground
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4vxLuwn2zA

Graphics.
They look very nice.

I would add, appart from the dinamic shadows, a precalculated one in the floor like the one that drops this car would add a lot of realism.
Image

Also i would lightmap the cars with an skylight.

The realtime reflects look very nice, even if they are a bit laggy.

The interior of the cars, whell, the pagani specially is uggly, I would simply add a lightmapped interior with radiosity...

Some particles when going trough the grass would be nice.

Also leaving brown tire trails when driving trough the grass.

HDR is a bit too "bloomy", I think

The blur effect is excesive, I woudl add this effect when crashing aggainst something, otherwise, it makes the game unplayable...

AI
_________

Very funny, when the cars go trough the boxes area and they appear again in the track, in this moment they look very nice!, they slide a bit .. blabla... nice moment of the race...

Sound.:
------------------
I would give special attention to the sound of the engine, as it is an important % of the driving sensation.

Anyway. Congratulations !!! Really nice demo, you kept me a number of minutes playing!. I love racing games, hope this one keeps on development.

Very nice.

I like how you have an out line on some parts of the cars.
More black out lines makes them have more character.

I miss the drivers though.

I am a little late I suppose, but nice work guys!
