Ultima Iris is - and remains - one of my favorite Ogre-supported projects! I've followed this project from the beginning (even of Iris1) and it's truly amazing to see what you have achieved since then!

Please, keep up your great work! The idea of your project is still exactly fine and I am sure there will be lots of people who'll welcome your engine very much. Ultima Online has strengths in some parts which no other current online game has to offer. There are, however, people who do not dare to play a 2D game again. These will be satisfied by Iris2! :)

@Torsan: Thanks. It's good to hear, that there are also people out there who like to see UO in 3D.
@jacmoe: thanks.

Thanks a lot for this great comments. If someone want to help (submit patches, do graphics or something else) you are welcome.

Currently we plan our own testshard: Iris - Online. PvP, Siege Combat, Castle/City Building and commanding Armys.

Expect something new.

Update (i know this should be in the recruitment thread, but i think here it's more usefull):

We are starting our own Game using Iris2 Engine.

more Infos: http://iris2.de/index.php/Iris_Online

Short discription
I thought of an Siege Combat System. Something like Civilization. The Land is devided into several Territories. Players can join a Faction/Territory or create a new one.
Every Player gets some Ressources. With this ressources he can build houses. The Player can recruit a small Army under his control. He is able to build cannons and battering rams. After he gather more ressources (doing combat, producing (graden system), trading aso.) the player is able to build Towers or Castles or whole Towns (only a Guilds can build this).

Why:
* try something different than all other MMO's
* testing purposes for Iris2 Engine
* test out enhancements and new features
* to build a community that is closer to Iris2

Keyfacts:
* Standalone game on the base of the uo opensource software (sunuo,xmlspawner,spawneditor aso.)
* No need of an original uo installation
* Own guiart, 2d Art, models, textures, Groundtextures, hues, radarcolors, tiledata, cliloc, speech
* Small map at first (island)
* keyfeatures like castle building, destroying and cannons should work for the first publish.
* Equipment and Items are not important for the first time.
* What counts, is fun building Castles/Towers and and doing Siege Combat.
* The whole system should be developed over time.

open positions:
* 1-2 Mapmaker/Static Builder(s)
* 1 Scripter for SunUO/RunUO (C#)
* 1 Administrator
* many 3D Character/Monster/Equipment Artist(s)

Few words - extrelmy good, outstanding idea :D I love UO (greatest bug of that game is amount of time it needs) In pictures Iris looks really nice... I must check it 8)

===EDIT===
It crashes every few seconds (ScriptError something :P)... probably thanks to custom scripts on the server :roll: But looks very nice 8)

Please don't use unstable, its our developer version and always broken :-) !

Use the Stable version of Iris2.

If you have a bug please report it here: http://nwn2.obsidian.net/expotron_plug.html

small update : quite a few things have happened in the meantime, stability has improved at least a bit in the stable release, but we're still busy tweaking overall performance. In the meantime a screenshot from shadow experiments, in our unstable branch :

Indeed, the shadows make a huge difference, nice work. More shots like that and we'll find a slot in the Featured Projects area for you :)

about the new terrain : it spans textures across multiple tiles to make it look less repetitive, uses a texture-atlas, and uses 4 pass multitexturing (2 mask-atlases, 2 ground texture-atlases) for transitions. so it doesn't need shaders to work.

glad you like it =) sience said he's gonna try and make a few more nice screenshots.

This is just WOW! Sorry if I start to repeat myself, but I can't find any words for this. I was this project emerge (starting with Iris1, no even with "3D client for UO"). First, it was only a very dirty delphi version which displayed the UO maps in 3D, then there was a better one with some own models, but this (OGRE-driven) version is definitely the most astonishing. Respect!
