The Far Wilds Game
Hi I just wanted to show off some screen shots of The Far Wilds a game we have been working on. It was made using ogre and rgbgui.
We just put up an alpha version. It is still rough but it is playable.
Let us know what you think!

Looks good, but I can't create an account. It claims my email is invalid. It's in the format one.two@somewhere.com.

I just tried it out. Really nice art work. It was hard for my to know what to do – but jed has chatted with me and helped me along the way. I opened 2 accounts and I will try to play with myself to learn the game (using 2 accounts and 2 windows).
Good work guys!

Nice, though I could not play it. I was browsing the project's files and found that you used some kind of tilesystem based on multitexturing (i am guessing here).
How does this tilesystem work? This kind of thing is what I was looking for for our game, so it would be great if you could elaborate ^^;

why couldn't you play it?

You mean for the terrain? We just have a few textures for each terrain type. Our game is hex based really so for each hex we pick a texture to use. Then we RTT using these textures and then apply that composite texture to the terrain geometry.

Well, there was no one. Also, i tried creating a new battle just to see the 3d stuff, but a black background appears on the battle where the 3d map should appear. Also, there is an avatar at the right with a question mark. Maybe this is actually normal, but i couldnt play it nonetheless. Here's a screenshot of the battle.Jed wrote:skullfire:

Thanks a lot. I might create something similar to this.Jed wrote: > How does this tilesystem work?

If you want to see what the game looks like and there is no one else on the server you can just set number of players to 1 when you create a battle.
There is no AI but you can place guys and move around and stuff.

No we found people to draw the cards for us.

I'm impressed you found so many people to draw such high quality art. Are you panning on some kind of a business model or is this a freebie game?Jed wrote: No we found people to draw the cards for us.
