Soshiant Game (screen shots and video)

Post by fassihi »

Here are some screenshots and video links from the first demo of a our game called Soshiant which is being built based on Persian Mythology. Soshiant is a 3rd person action adventure game.

We use OGRE for rendering, PhysX(NxOgre) for physics simulation, Hikari for UI and OpenAl for sound.

Custom shaders have been used for the following:
- Per pixel lighting
- HDR
- Shadows
- Specular Effects
- Height Fog

This game is in production stage now and it will be released next year.

Nice -- if those are the prototype then the release should be excellent :)
Do you need help? What have you tried?

Goodness! Now that is what I call quality. Really well polished; the art style is strangely unique yet realistic. (In fact, they almost look like realtime concept drawings!)

Keep us posted! :D

Impressive. Reminds me Prince of Persia and God of War (a.k.a. Ubisoft & Co.). Reaching such quality in an indie game is amazing. The lowest the budget, the most impressive such work is!

Seeing it in action on the videos really shows off how impressive it really is. I'd love to see it in HD ;). Excellent work thus far!

The environment looks fantastic, and the combat (especially the synchronized animations) looks intense and action packed.

The great foreground level art, matched with the ground fog and distant mountains creates an epic feel to the environment.

Very impressive!

Very cool game, the style of fighting reminds me diablo and god of war! Impressive graphics too! Congrats!

Some critics:
- Aren't the enemies a bit dull? Looks like they have hard time going after you.
- Is the collision ok? Looks like sometimes the character goes to punch the enemies with the sword and he misses alot (or are just you too bad? xD)
- Altough beautiful, the textures looks almost the same everywhere, i really enjoy the style but it could get the viewer tired after some time....

Just my 2 cents here....By the way this game looks awesome, im looking forward to play it! Once again, congratulations!

Romulo, Thanks for the critics,

The enemy AI needs a lot more work, you are right. The collision system which uses PhysX is not tweaked quite well, physics objects are used in the enemy bodies to sense collisions and they need to be adjusted for ever character.

We've got still lots of work to do.

Superb quality you've managed to achieve there even in the prototype. Obviously there are a few glitches with the animations and some shadow issues in a couple of places, but I'm sure those will be polished out over time. Looking forward to seeing more of this one!

I really like your camera control too - very smooth and the angles chosen seem very appropriate.

UI

Post by fassihi »

No UI seen in these vidoes but we use HIKARI for initial menu and in game menus... we also did a prototype for in game HUDs using that but they didn't make it to this video.. hope to show more in the next videos...

Totally stunning! :)
This level of quality rivals the best. How on Earth did you manage to do that?
