Latest update:

Battle tiers Invasion release date has been set. On 15th of September will be released on Desura.
Currently is being prepared to release on other platforms, but for now Desura it is the only I can confirm.

Original topic start:

Hi everybody.

I’m here to share a project I’m working on.
It’s my first project as an indie developer. I learned playing with Ogre as a hobby and made several small advertising games when I worked in a company.

About this project:
It’s called Battle Tiers Invasion, currently it’s in beta stages, and it’s a fast paced shooter were you fight in an arena against countless ovnis. It’s based on the old style gameplay with various game modes and has a special one, with 50 different challenges.

The game uses MyGUI, Open all and ogreMax.

It still doesn’t have any fixed release date.
But I hope release it soon, currently I’m looking for platforms to release it.

@tod: :lol: Actually I’m Portuguese. I really missed that one. :lol:

By the way, I forgot to add, I’m also using MOC (Minimal Ogre Collision)

My overall feeling is that are plenty of details, and that the 3D world doesn't feel empty (compared to 2D action games).
I am curious to know 2 things :

how do you control mouse only or mouse + keyboard?
I suppose this is something very important since the game does not look easy (I mean it might be hard for kids).

did you make the art yourself ? From what I see it's nice.

@madmarx: That’s a very interesting question. Yes, the controls are the arrows or WASD for moving and mouse for aiming.
From what I saw from the people that I asked to test the game, the first 5 minutes, if you go straight to arcade mode (one of the few modes available at first), the game is completely unforgiving.
To balance that issue, newcomers can go to the challenge mode and the first missions help the player adapt to the game. The first mission, the tank is fixed and it’s just shooting, the second is picking some crates, the third is only dodging, the fourth you can shoot and move but you can’t die and so on. And that way the player can go back to arcade mode and do some nice scores.

Even though, I’m testing the game as I code from quite some time and also I’m very familiar with the controls, I’m having a hard time to compete with my friends’ scores. And they only started testing a few days ago. So that is a great thing (though I would like to had superiority in scores :D )

But yes, the game it’s not easy, requires great coordination and concentration at first. (Awareness of the tank, enemies, projectiles, terrain, etc). But after few minutes everyone played very gracefully. And unless they were lying :lol: , they enjoy it very much; to the point they unlocked everything the beta had and kept playing.

So considering the adaptability of kids, they probably will play even better than all of us. :lol:

And finally yes, I did all the assets myself and thanks for the compliment.

I like "Ovnid". It has more character than UFO or Alien. :lol: Looks very pretty and well polished :D

Your game looks really cool, maybe you're interested to publish it on Little Inde, too? We already have three Ogre games there, would be great, if you would join them. I sent you a PM about this :).
