Salvation Prophecy [update: Steam Release]

Post by Jabberwocky »

UPDATE Oct 8, 2013: Steam Release

Salvation Prophecy launched on Steam. Finally! :)

Steam launch trailer:

UPDATE August 30, 2012: Steam Greenlight

If you buy games on Steam, please vote for Salvation Prophecy here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... d=92962546

Huge thanks to anyone who helps out with a vote/comment. Steam is pretty much the gateway to the "big audience" for indie PC games. Getting there can be tricky for an indie dev, and every vote helps! :D

Salvation Prophecy is a military space epic. Human, mutant, and robotic factions are at war for galactic domination. Battles rage as space fleets collide, and planet invasions clash against fortified enemy colonies. Yet the greatest danger is the impending annihilation foretold by an apocalyptic prophecy. You must seek out the mysteries of distant alien worlds, and master ancient powers to withstand the coming storm.

Space Combat
  • Engage in epic space battles with 50 fighter ships, space stations, and battleships.
  • Upgrade your ship with more powerful weapons, missiles, engines, shields, reactors, and EMPs.
Planet Battle
  • Embark on drop ship missions to invade enemy colonies. Battle against enemy troops, turrets, flier-bombers, and powerful mech units.
Alien Planet Exploration
  • Navigate your ship through unstable wormholes to unknown galaxies.
  • Explore alien planets inhabited by dangerous creatures.
  • Discover the secrets of an apocalyptic prophecy.
  • Seek out the guardians of ancient runes.
Military Command
  • Gain ranks by completing missions.
  • Rise up to lead your faction's military strategy.
  • Construct planet colonies, space stations, and military units.
  • Order new missions to attack the enemy.

Congratulations! Definitely one of the best-looking indie games out there. If you do get it on Steam, I'll pick it up instantly - don't have a GamersGate account right now :)

Thanks bstone. Hopefully it doesn't take me 5 years to make my next game. ;)

Yep, I'll keep tossing emails into the black hole that is the Steam submission process. We'll see how it goes.

I've got a free demo built, but I guess GamersGate doesn't have a download link for it. Any suggestions where I could host it for download?

Yaay! :D :D If you don't mind a filehost, then you can use [s]MediaFire[/s]. I haven't used anything else in a while.

<Edit> I forgot the 200 MB filesize limit.
I don't know if GameFront has a filesize, but I tried uploading a 250mb file and it didn't have a problem with it.

That is great news! :) I definitely have to try it out.
I assume it's in digital download form only? Will you be able to get it to disk too? :)

Super-phat-mad-props to you Jabberwocky, we've all been following your progress and we're so darn impressed that you're finally releasing it!

This has gotta be the biggest Ogre3D game since Torchlight.

Looks like you're starting to get a bit of a community going too http://www.salvationprophecy.com/forum/ ... p?f=4&t=52

Best of luck with sales and please let us know about your struggles with Steam and other distribution problems.

Cheers and congratulations

That we know of. Remember, the licensing of Ogre3D (the current MIT & previous commercial ones) don't require you tell people that you are using it.

With that out of the way, congratulations on your release Jabberwocky. It's always good to see an indie finish a game, even better when it's with the engine you also happen to be using :)

Lol. I'd rather spend another 5 years making a game and be proud of that than realize that I've done nothing and wasted them

Agreed, but working for 5 years is tough, not to mention that in indie game development you usually don't have funding from the start, so you have to support your self in alternate ways during those 5 years. While we're on the subject, how does an independent game developer support himself without funding ?

He explains alot how he did things in the other thread http://ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=66883

Looking good hope it sells well!

Will you be giving out any figures after it's peaked? I know a lot of people are interested how well indie projects actually do.
