HAL: Humans Are Legacy

Post by areay »

Hi everyone,

I've got some screenshots to present from our game "HAL: Humans Are Legacy"; a 1-4 player co-op tower defence game set in an alternate reality sci-fi universe. These images are just some 'teasers' of the environment where the game is set. When we've finalised the look of the towers and enemies we'll release some gameplay screenshots and a video too.

Some tech bits
* Ogre 1.8
* CEGUI
* Bullet Physics
* OpenAL
* eNet
* Cg shader language
* Models created in Blender
* Runs on Linux, Mac & Windows
* Developed in Eclipse/CDT on Fedora (which has been blissful :) )

Zombie Byte Games is a 2 man indie development team based in Auckland, New Zealand. We've been working on this for about a year and I'm just loving working with Ogre3D, such a great API.

Hi Slappy, yeah, this is our first game, we're reaching for the stars here :)

At the moment we're working on the GUI, it's looking pretty slick so far, we'll release a screenshot with the current state in a week or so.

Hi guys, I've been playing around with ragdolls and thought it was time for a new post so here's a fun video (best viewed in 720p)

We've been busy with network code and had our first multiplayer game a few weeks back. Progress has been steady but we're still a helluva long way off. As you can see in the vid, there's still plenty of placeholder art and first-cut effects. There's also a bunch of post-processing effects which TOTALLY CHANGE EVERYTHING IN THE GAME but due to a Ogre+Linux+compositor bug somewhere that disables anti-aliasing I didn't want to include it in the vid. There's more gameplay elements that we've got in there too but I just wanted to show the ragdolls in this vid. Enjoy.

Looks really good! I like the idea of a multiplayer tower-defence game and the art style really speaks to me. I would love to get my hands on this.

Nice effect. I'm not sure about the dark red colour for a shield, perhaps a brighter cyan would feel more "energetic".
