Note to Students about applications

Post by tuan kuranes » Mon May 08, 2006 3:07 pm

1) Please complete as much as possible the application you made or you're going to make :

Mandatory :
- Some implementations details of what you propose.
- An estimated schedule/planning.

You really need to provide some toughts on the subject of the application to show your understanding of the problem and how you're going to solve it, and as much proof as possible that you're able to handle it.

Somewhat helpful :
- Why I should be the one doing that ?
- What is my ogre experience ?
- Link to past work/code/screenshots.

Keep in mind that the application is our more or less the only way mentor have to make their choice, and "Resume/CV + subject only" application may not be enough to make that choice.

2) Check regularly your application submission and rework it according to comments posted in order to help mentors make their choice.

3) You can postulate to multiple application, but make all them as much as possible complete and serious following statements above.

Note : end of application is before 17:00 PST today

It might be helpfull to make applicants also add a line or 2 about what they what from they're mentor. Just to make it easier for the mentors to pick students :)

Of course it must be reasonable, but I think they will be :D

pxL, Idea for next summer:

make list of students with their proposals on SoC07 page, and mentors will send their applications.

i will make a template for mentor's application like that:
Do you like a FightClub movie? Can you recall some citates from it?

Do you play bass guitar? I need mentor, with which i can talk about music.

Do you live in Ekaterinburg, so we can get some beer in pub?

Do you have C or D breast size?

:D

Comments or questions were made to several applications, applicants should be able to see them in their students page

But seems students cant update their proposals by this time, so they probably should reply on this forums
