Ludum Dare

Post by so0os »

Hey, I would like to invite you guys to the upcoming Ludum Dare.

Ludum dare is a game making competition held 4 times a year. The main goal is to complete a game within the time limit of 48 hours.

Ludum Dare takes place since 2002, and is the most recognised game making competition in the internets. I'd love to see some of you guys participate!

I'm planning on doing the jam this year with a few friends. :)
We probably will be doing something in 2D, so we won't be using Ogre. But, it sounds like a blast!

Here in brisbane we have a similar (but lesser known obviously) 48 hour game contest. But it involves all the competing teams being in a large single room with webcams watching them. Only 1 person from each team can leave the dev area (for food, sleep, toilet, etc) at a time.

Hey I didn't notice the Events forum, sorry!

I hope some of you will participate ;) You can always get away with making a game in 4.8 hour if you don't have the necessary time ;)

48 hrs? Wow games nowadays does seem take time to finish.. At the risk of sounding like an old boring programmer, let me tell you something: I used to finish Prince of Persia 1 in 17 minutes, right from first level till (I can't remember the last level).. but that was ~20 years ago.

syedhs> Err.... it's 48h to MAKE games, not play them to the end...

so0os> Oh sh*t it! So it was you?!! XD

Ok, so how was it for you? I just participated to the Jam (72hours in team). We had a lot of problems but in the end we manage to get something done. A big relief at the end. I would have abandonned if I was alone I think. But next time I'll try to make it for the Compo (48h alone).

I find it great ;) But you need a good approach for this things, and trying to have "quality code" is pretty much useless :P My game wasn't finished, but I submitted it and am satisfied with it (I did flash thingie). I'm polishing it now to get it on Kongregate.

Here's the most recent version: www.sos.gd/ld20/post

Now, let's play the 352 gams :)

Completely my fault - I realized I was actually reading just this line
