Post by Virion »

Today I went to a bookstore nearby my place, and you guess what I see... the Ogre model (with body) printed on a book!!

Isn't that the Ogre head we always see in the demos?
But it's a pink Ogre.

Yep, that's Olaf The Troll, who came with early versions of Character Studio (earlier than 1998).

You can buy the model from here:

Trollsare much bigger than Ogres.
Ogres are more humanoid that trolls, and more vicious.
Ogres are generally bigger and stronger than humans.
Orcs are smaller than humans.
Goblins are smaller than orcs.

Since neither are actually real, it's hard to get a definite answer. It depends on your source (d&d monster manual, watching lord of the rings, wow, etc). They all have different ideas.

According to Webster:
troll - a dwarf or giant in Scandinavian folklore inhabiting caves or hills (hmm, bit of a height discrepancy there)
ogre - a hideous giant of fairy tales and folklore that feeds on human beings

Cool, while looking for some source pics, I found this:
http://windmek.ca/ogre_renderings/index.html
A page of Ogre rendering the ogre head with various shaders. Half way down there's a really cool remake of the head:
