Google's O3D

Post by Kentamanos »

Just curious if anyone has played around with Google's O3D stuff (http://code.google.com/apis/o3d/) and has any opinions.

It's basically a browser plugin and API accessed via Javascript for real time 3D. It seems to support shaders, skinning, COLLADA model, and other fun stuff. Seems like it'd be a quick way to getting a 3D model repository going if nothing else.

Cool. And it's open source under the New BSD license. :)

I wonder if they created their own 3D rendering engine - it seems so. What a shame that they didnt consider OGRE, which has already proven to run well in similar environments.

At least they are using the Ogre Max tools. Look at this blog post.
