Just by reading interviews of the developers, I got real hope. And it's rare.

Re: Most anticipated Game sequel.
I loved Lineage2 when it first came out for it's totally stunning visuals, but so did many others and that style got copied over and over and over and I just can't stand seeing L2 style graphics any longer, as pretty as they are. Besides classic fantasy for me has something raw archetype celtic deep down, north/middle european rooted, mixing that with asian anime style with fan service panty shots just totally kills it for me. L2 also had the hardest level grind in the universe. Still Aion looks fun and NCSoft definately knows how to create atmosphere, so I guess I will end up being curious and try it anywayDanielSefton wrote:Aion: Tower of Eternity?Nauk wrote:THE mmoRPG that picks up at the point where Everquest lost it.
There is one other possible light on the horizont, although not exactly classic fantasy but promissing enough: http://www.swtor.com/

Dito. And on my list Deus Ex 3 is followed by all announced non-MMORPG-games from Blizzard and Half Life 2 Episode 3.Klaim wrote:Deus Ex 3.

Oh, and Thief 3. A real Thief 3, not "Deadly Shadows" or "THIAF".

Re: Most anticipated Game sequel.
Just finished SOMI SE last night on my 360. The credits at the end flashed (possibly paraphrasing...it was very late) "Guybrush Threepwood will return" about 20 times, so I would expect the series to be continued.betajaen wrote:At the moment?

I'd personally love a Grim Fandango SE.
I have a feeling porting the other SCUMM games (which Grim isn't one actually) wouldn't be too hard, so depending on how well SOMI does we might see more?
Another Gothic would indeed be cool jacmoe, but I still haven't tried the 3rd one yet (I heard good things though) .

Granted: it's not as good as the first two.
But I enjoyed it.

Absolutely and I noticed that. Although it should of said "Turn off your computer and go to bed" to keep with the original.Kentamanos wrote:Just finished SOMI SE last night on my 360. I'm interested to see if they are going to make over Monkey Island 3 and 4. The 3rd one already has audio, and has hires graphics - perhaps it will be a bit of a tidy up; or if we are lucky a graphics make over.
Monkey Island 4 will be really interesting since it uses a different engine (GrimE) and is in 3D, Perhaps they are are eyeing Ogre right now for an upgrade.

Re: Most anticipated Game sequel.
Hm ... Apart from the bugs: it lacks story, the characters are shallow, the endings suck, Xardas' character was completely changed, the women (meshes, voices, characters) are ridiculous, the orcs were changed (in regard to the precessors) in a way I just don't like, the orcs have black beady eyes, the quests are really bad (kill this, get that - never anything other or interesting), Nordmar is just killing one million monsters, the zombies were changed (why do they fight with sticks?! and why are they so fast now?!), the reputation system isn't interesting as the quests are bland, the big smelting furnace of Nordmar plus the cave is bad designed, every city is just a copy of another city, there is no linear story to hold them together, it's too much hack'n'slay, swamp weed also grows in the desert, nearly all heads are ugly modelled (ugh, how I hate the guy who made Thorus), combat totally sucks now (even with the latest "community patch", whose mere existence tells enough), ...jacmoe wrote:I like Gothic 3 - what's wrong with it?
BTW, for those who really are waiting for Gothic 4: They (not the original developer, mind you) renamed it to "ArcaniA: A Gothic Tale". And I'm pretty sure they do all they can to make it even more mainstream. Argh.

Yup, following it since quite a while and it is good to see they are up and running again after some downtime (rumors had it SOE shut them down after someone advertised the project on the official EQ forums)RedEyeCoder wrote:Diablo 3 and EqClassic (Seen that Nauk?).

Re: Most anticipated Game sequel.
100% agreement. It is as if Piranha Bytes forgot what the essence of Gothic was when they made G3. Luckily they seem to remember now, since what I've seen from Risen so far is very encouraging.wacom wrote:Hm ... Apart from the bugs: (...)jacmoe wrote:I like Gothic 3 - what's wrong with it?

So Risen is the sequel I'm looking forward to the most.
I don't expect anything from Arcania. A stupid Click-To-Kill combat system, radar map are signs of mainstreaming the Gothic line indeed. They also seem to go for an ESRB Teen rating, while Risen probably will be ESRB Mature.

Re: Most anticipated Game sequel.
The same thing could be said about Elder Scrolls IV.
That doesn't mean - to me - that's it's a bad game. A disappointment, yes.
Gothic 3 is better than Oblivion in my book.
Let's hope the next iteration improves.

Re: Most anticipated Game sequel.
If you've never tried Arx, it's basically Ultima Underworld 3, with mouse gesture spell casting.
So instead I'm waiting for Deus Ex 3 and Thief 4 (or Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3 if you don't count Deus Ex Invisible War and Thief Deadly Shadows as DE 2 and Thief 3 respectively).
Also Stalker Call of Pripyat and DCS A10 are on my waiting list.
