Blender to Ogre Exporter Abandoned?

Post by ssjmetroid »

Does anyone have any inside information about the Blender2Ogre project? It sucks so hard that Blender is now version 2.75a, and the only exporter that I can find at https://code.google.com/p/blender2ogre/ stopped updating past Blender 2.69...

On the top of the Blender2Ogre project page it says "Active Development taken over by Mind-Calamity" and a link to Mind-Calamity's project on bitbucket at https://bitbucket.org/MindCalamity/blender2ogre, but if you go to that page you get 404'd! I guess he destroyed the project, or it was somehow removed from bitbucket. :(

The only reason I ask this is because I can't seem to make Ogre materials with multiple passes/layers with this exporter. Blender just freaks out and the plugin throws errors, and a bunch of empty UI boxes appear in the Materials tab where the options for each pass should be.

I just updated the wiki a couple of days ago with a updated link, the MindCalamity repo is deprecated.

The current available version of Blender2Ogre is https://bitbucket.org/iboshkov/blender2ogre
I successfully work with Blender 2.75 and this plugin, and Blender2Ogre is still under active maintenance on this repo.

Really sorry about that, changed my username on BitBucket and forgot to update the broken links, I haven't had time to work much on the exporter, but I probably will in the (hopefully) near future.
BitBucket username changed to iboshkov (from MindCalamity)
Do you need help? What have you tried?

Hey Mind Calamity,

Do you have any plans to update blender2ogre to export Hlms materials for use with Ogre2.1 in the near future?

Either way, thanks for the exporter, it seems to work quite well and has a ton of options I haven't even touched yet.

There is work been done on an integrated viewer that will support export I believe (doesn't have it yet). http://ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=84227
