Material editor

Post by spookyboo »

I'm was scanning the forum in search for a material editor for Ogre. I haven't found one yet and I'm still far from writing my own (I have some catching up to do  ). I saw that :nfz announced his Rendermonkey style material editor, which seems promissing, but I guess he hasn't released it yet (or have I missed something?). Maybe someone has written a Rendermonkey exporter?

Any suggestions?

The material editor that I am working on is at least another 2 months away from an Alpha release.

Another material editor being worked on is the Chronos editor at : http://chronos.digitalsentience.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi

I have done RenderMonkey Effect-> Ogre Material exporter. Currently it supports only Direct3D branch of RenderMonkey, but it is fairly easy to upgrade to support OpenGL.

I'm afraid that it is not free :). Is anybody interested in it?

Very brave of you to offer something that is not for free in an open source community forum
Just kidding (a bit). This sounds interesting. Do you have a site where I can investigate it / download a demo ?

I've also been working on a material editor. I've got quite a bit of functionality done. It will take a little while longer before I have anything to release, for one thing I'm moving from MFC to wxWidgets so that everyone will be able to use it.

Hard to estimate when I'll be done, but I'll poste the source as soon as I'm finished.

ps, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and also announce that very soon I'll be adding a MFC tutorial to the Ogre Wikki.

The demo is not yet ready. I'll post link in a week (after New Year).
