Hi, while searching for information on how to implement day and night cycle transition in sky dome, I stumbled upon the SkyX, a sky and clouds plugin for Ogre. However the SkyX version 0.4 download links at its site are no longer available:

The links given in the announcement post by the SkyX creator are also not available:

For the simpler day and night cycle transition, I followed the instruction in this post regarding transition between two texture of skydome using shader and it worked :
viewtopic.php?t=28601
Just need to change hlsl to cg, target ps_1_4, vs_1_1 to profiles arbfp1 ps_1_4, arbvp1 vs_1_1 for the fragment program and vertex program respectively for Linux. Then some tweaking of the parameters to change animation speed, texture scaling, and transition speed.
But a more robust sky and weather plugin will be worthy to investigate.
