3D models that might interest you

Post by Cremuss »

Hello ! :)

First sorry for my bad english :D

I'm a young french 3d artist looking for upgrading his skills while making some cash..
So I recently joined 3docean.net to sell my first model.

Here is a fully animated fantasy creature ( 20 different cycles ) that is perfect to fit in any RTS/RPG/MMO game. A .mesh and .skeleton files are also included in the package (with many other things, like .psd & .xcf textures source files) so the creature is ready to be updated in ogre 3d without anything to do ;)

Other creatures and more general stuff (likes low poly trees and vegetation) will follow soon.

I hope it'll be usefull.

Thanks ! ;)
Bye !

OMG... I loved the contents of the file "creatures.zip" available in that link you posted... can you explain better what license is you using for that free models? Can i redistribute then if i use it in one Non-commercial project (like in the zip file of my project)? Can i change then if they don't exactly meet my requirements (like adding animations or changing textures)?
Excuse me if my english fail!

According to the Free Software Foundation, GPL'ed art means that you can use it in any project - even commercial - provided that you adhere to the GPL, ie make the source available for anyone.
That does not mean that your project must be GPL, of course.
The Worldforge asset repository is GPL'ed as well.
A good license, IMO. :wink:
/* Less noise. More signal. */
Ogitor Scenebuilder - powered by Ogre, presented by Qt, fueled by Passion.
OgreAddons - the Ogre code suppository.

The GPLed models looks really good, but somehow i cant see any of the "creatures" pack models textured, even after reloading skin on Blender (latest version) or using the ogre ready models with Cegui mesh viewer (also latest version).
Does that happen to any of you as well?

Anyways, great models for free :D

Your stuff is of incredible quality and I salute you for releasing some of it as GPL. I will incorporate some into my projects for sure. Did you ever think of sharing this stuff in a community that is made for content like this? If you want to, you could put this onto http://opengameart.org/ or I could do it for you if you want (giving you all credit of course). I just think that such good models should not go unnoticed.

Is any of your free stuff animated? I looked at a fair bit of it and none of it seemed to be animated, thus I'm asking.

For me it works... you need to re-select the texture files you want to use.

For example on creature1.5, it uses creature1.5.body1.col.png, but it is set to the directory where that file was on the developer harddisk, then i set the right directory to it and the texture now is show in Blender.

For the ogre mesh files that comes with it, you need to create one ".material" file to be able to see textures in Ogre (or you can just export the material using blender).

creature1.5.material:

Code: Select all

// Skins for creature 1.5

material creature1.5.body1
{
	technique
	{
		pass
		{

			texture_unit
			{
				texture creature1.5.body1.col.png
			}
		}
	}
}

material creature1.5.items1
{
	technique
	{
		pass
		{

			texture_unit
			{
				texture creature1.5.items1.col.png

			}

		}
	}
}

material creature1.5.items2
{
	technique
	{
		pass
		{

			texture_unit
			{
				texture creature1.5.items2.col.png

			}
		}
	}
}

material creature1.5.items3
{
	technique
	{
		pass
		{

			texture_unit
			{
				texture creature1.5.items3.col.png

			}

		}
	}
}

material creature1.5.items4
{
	technique
	{
		pass
		{

			texture_unit
			{
				texture creature1.5.items4.col.png

			}

		}
	}
}

material creature1.5.items5
{
	technique
	{
		pass
		{

			texture_unit
			{
				texture creature1.5.items5.col.png

			}

		}
	}
}

Thanks for the advice Matheus, even if i have been using blender for some time i still get lost around...
Models looks killer with texture, and some of them have multiple versions/customs. And everything is so tidy, totally opposite to my designing mess :oops:

Hi. I almost forgot this page sorry :oops: :mrgreen:
I've been busy with some freelance stuff so there no a lot of updates :roll:

Thx all :)

Matheus Martino > About the license, Jacmoe summed up it well ;)

Daninal & koirat > Yeah I've been using relative paths for a while now but I thought these ones has relative paths too. It seems that I was wrong, sorry about that : D

Svenstaro > None of the GPL content is animated because I learned animation very recently and it's still freaking long&hard for me ;)
Also, most of the GPL stuff is used/or will be used in SPRING RTS project(s)
I'll probably put that on opengameart.org, I'll see that layer. Thanks for the advice ;)

It could be cool to have screenshots if you used my stuff in any of your ogre 3D projects ;)

Also, here is some new stuff for 3docean :
http://3docean.net/item/sand-wasp/88224 > new creature
http://3docean.net/item/grass-billboard ... pack/88229 > complete set of billboard grass textures for games

and beta portfolio : http://cremuss.free.fr/

Bye ;)

Ok, a quick post to let you know that we plan to use your models in our game. With the proper credit of course, and probably we will animate them.
