[Solved] troubles with the blender exporter

i have a strange problem with the ogre exporter for blender

since i have succefully exported some models with it , i cannot export a simple plane !

i have a simple plane that i have scaled along the y axis and exported it to ogre
but when i laod it with ogremeshy it appear rectangle

well it was my mistake as usual :mrgreen:

i had to apply the scale in Blender,

btw i still don't understand the need of this in blender :?:

In Blender scaling the object and scaling the mesh is two different things. If you scale the mesh (in edit mode), then you actually move the vertices and edges that make up the geometry. If you scale the object, this is like an operator that works on the mesh. This way you could have two objects pointing to the same mesh but applying different transformations on it while not changing the underlying mesh itself. "Applying" those transformations means that you apply them on the actual vertices of the mesh which will then have consequences for all other objects using that mesh. The same goes for modifiers like subsurf or mirror.

The need for applying the transformations before exporting arises from the fact that the exporters only use the mesh for export and not the object with its transformations.

I hope this clears things up a bit :)
