I've downloaded the source code to 9th life, but I can't open the model files in Max (version 5).
I get the error "Unknown class: No stand-in" when I open the file and a messagebox listing several missing DLLs.
I figure one of two things is happening: the models were originally done in a different version of max, or the 9th Life team was using some custom plugins that I don't have, possibly to save extra game-related info in the .max files.
Is there any way to get around this problem? I'm new at using 3ds so I'm not sure what's going on. I want to make character models with animations and build levels in max like the 9th Life team did so being able to open these files and see how things work would be really helpful.
Anyone successfully open the 9th Life .max files?
