A place for employers, project leaders etc to post if they are looking for people to assist with an Ogre-based project. Please only post in this area if you have a _serious_ project proposition for which you already have something to show for.

Hi!

I know OpenMW has been mentioned on these boards before, but here's an update:

Recently our lead dev (Nicolay, seems to have gone by brick around here) went MIA. We sat on our hands for a few weeks, but then we mobilized and as a team effort we are getting this project back off the ground! Recently we have had a lot of progress with NPC rendering, and things are looking up!

Like most open source projects, we are always in need of more help. We are looking to tackle exterior terrain rendering next, which is going to be a beast. Fortunately a lot of the groundwork is done, with asset loading somewhat in place, and a working version of exterior rendering available for reference in the previous incarnation of the project. If you are interested in pitching in, we'd love to hear from you!

It's been almost a year since the last post in this thread! Sorry for the extreme Necro, but I wanted to reply here so people can re-read the rest of the posts.

But what's new! OpenMW is working towards releasing 0.12. We have a new website, located at http://www.openmw.org. Our terrain dev returned to us, and is working on getting terrain back up to where it was in our D version, before we switched to C++. We've had a lot of success getting animations working, but they still need a little help. Current tasks include sky and water, as well as plenty of other aspects of the engine.

We are always looking for new contributors! Recently the author of Crystal Scrolls, a Morrowind engine remake using the Crystal Space engine announced his intention to contribute to our project. If you'd like to help out as well, please drop by our forum and say hi!

Here's some further info on the project:

OpenMW is a reimplementation of the game engine for Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, written completely from scratch. Work began in 2008 by Nicolay Korslund and, despite his departure from the project last year, our community of developers and fans continues to grow. We aim to create a cross platform (linux, Mac, Windows) game engine, with improved performance, and which resolves design problems from the original engine.

(possibly) support multiplayer
(possibly) improve graphics

Get Involved:
OpenMW is a huge undertaking with v0.12.0 representing four years of work. To speed up development we are seeking developers who know C++, especially those with experience working with bullet physics and Ogre3d. With v0.13.0 the game will be at a point where we'll need bug testers. Finally, you can help promote the project by updating websites, forums, and by creating videos showcasing our latest developments.

License and Libraries
OpenMW is released under the GNU General Public License version 3. It also builds on various other open source tools, most notably OGRE for graphics, MYGUI, OPENAL, and Bullet for collision (and possibly physics).
