New Ogre Character?
In my contribution to Ogre, I am planning on making a nice full Ogre model with all the pertinent mappings. My question is, what do we want him to look like? An ogre really is just a giant ugly beast. There are many different ways I can take the style. It could be just dumb looking, or huge and buff, or just large and slow. What is the best style?
Here are some links of different styled Ogres:

Well, its late and I cant find any other good examples. See if you can find an inspiring one. I kinda like the first one myself.

I agree - the first is better.
Don't forget to check out my Roll your own Ogre thread:

The Ogre shouldn't be too unfriendly - he's our symbol after all!
Check with nfz, I think he has a rewamped Ogre head..

Those Ogre are amazing.. Vote for the first one..
anyway.. they are too scary for me
will design my own.. an Ogre cute enough so I can show it in any type of game without so much visual shock..
In my humble opinion, cute stuff is always welcome..
Did anybody see the "Polygon Magic" logo at the beginning of Galerians (Sony PlayStation game)?
The logo is cute.. sonds and looks like child work.. but does a professional visual contrast, I think..
Anyway.. just as a mascot, the first Ogre really rocks

Selfmoving my post to the good thread...
First is fine, but something annoy me: his face is to human, except his green skin and his two long teeth, he really looks like a human.
When you look at the Ogre logo, and the ogre head present in the demo, it has nothing in common with a human.
I have seen, 'long time ago' on the french fan site of Ogre, a model who was pretty good, but i don't remember the name of the creator. Maybe Crashy could remember it.
But, even if the model doesn't look like i represent to myself a Ogre, this is a 'kick ass' model

The warhammer ogres look totally sweet when you ignore the "suggested" paint schemes and fatty them up a bit.
Here's a shot of my WIP ogre brutes for my ork army... they are brown
& slightly modded to look more like muscle gone to fat, especially on the shoulders unlike that sickly grey that GW insists on painting them... I suppose the GW ogres look more ape like. The first ogre looks to orrcish to me
but is a sweet model non the less
And yes, that HDD is dead

When I still was doing graphics I've made this Ogre http://www.malwasandres.de/ogrecomplete.jpg
This is the texture I've started http://www.malwasandres.de/ogrehead.jpg
Thats a sketch I made of the head wich didn't quite work out
http://www.malwasandres.de/ogre-head3.JPG
Some more screens

If anybody is interested in continueing with this model I'll upload it as an obj format or something. I'm more interested in programming now

Yeah, I wasnt planning on copying that guy to the T. Copying a model would be 'gay' anyways
.
@booleangames: I dont like any of the turbosquid ones.
@murf: Wow, who made those models? Whoever it was did a good job of stealing that head from Ogre. The price is a tad high too
. I like the hands and feet, they match the head, but the stooped head is not to my liking.
@SomeFusion: It says bad password when I use anonymous. Something is not working right on your FTP. Maybe maxed connections?
A couple more:

I can't believe their prices - no wonder they pulled it from turbosquid..Jerky wrote:Whoever it was did a good job of stealing that head from Ogre. The price is a tad high too.
