Exporting from Blender

Post by charlie »

I tried the BlenderExporter and have some troubles:
here's what I did:
1. I moved the .py file from the ogrenew/Tools directory into blenders script directory
2. at the beginning when starting blender there's always this cube, a perfect test object, I thought
3. I did a file/export/Ogre XML - no errors
4. I used the OgreXML converter to build the .mesh file. (OgreXMLConverter inputfile outputfile. I didn't use any parameters)
5. tried to load the file in ogre - worked I've seen my cube
6. Tried to put a texture on it with ent->setMaterialName("Simple/RockWall");
7. The cube is still BLACK

Before someone tells me now about reading the black object threats in the help forum. I did. And replacing the .mesh with a .mesh that comes with ogre, e.g. the head works perfectly.

Is there something i mad wrong, that could cause this problem??

The cube probably doesn't have valid texture coordinates. See the Blender manual for how to create them: http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/ ... UV_Mapping

I am still a Blender n00b, but here's what I do:

* Select the cube, if it isn't already.
* Press 'N' to view the Transform Properties for the cube.
* Enter a number for SizeX, SizeY, SizeZ.
* Close the Transform window.
* Switch to UV Face Select mode.
* Select all.
* Switch to Material Mode
* Load an image into the UV image editor.
* Switch back to normal Model view and watch your cube textured.
* In Object Mode: Press Ctrl + A to apply transforms/rotations.
* Export - make sure that export Game Engine Materials is selected.

Well, that's what I do.. :wink:
