rotate and scale problem in export out of 3D studio max.

Post by Mexx »

Hello,

After creating different models and having the same problem over and over i come here to find more information about what i'm doing wrong.

I use 3D studio max to create models.
When i export them using OFusion i get a mesh file.
While loading this mesh file into Ogre it's rotation and scale is not equal to the one(Top, Front, left view) in 3D studio max.
( When i rotate the PIVOT in 3D studio max it does change in Ogre, but my model in 3D studio max is all mixed up in the viewports. )

I can't exactly locate the source of all this evil :)
The pivot solution i found on the ogre forums.

These are my steps:
  • - new 3D max file
    - Create a box
    - Bend it(modifier)
    - Rotate it using the "select and rotate"
    - File- export - OSM - Mesh & material on true
    - Then i load it into Ogre using a Entity and attaching it to a node.

What is the right way to keep everything in line for both 3D studio max and ogre ?

It's a pretty big question, only a part of the awnser is welcome to.

Thanks

At the end of your modeling process, try using "Reset XForm" ("Utilities" tab) and after that collaps the stack of your model .. then export ..
