3D City Tour (Virtual City Project)
Hi, i just wanted to show some images of my new project:
3D City Tour - Monumental Version
It is a 3d Interactive Viewer of Real Monuments (Only Granada of Spain is shown at this moment). You can rotate, zoom, select parts, view texts, photos, etc...
The Alhambra is included too!!!
You can see photos and videos here:

Thanks to all the OGRE staff and the forums for such a great engine.

Very nice project! Can you view the Alhambra from the inside, too? It is one of the most beautiful buildings ever built.

Yes, it would be a huge work. But especially the Alhambra would be worth it, if somebody could take the time...

When I looked at the first few screenshots on your site I thought the quality was low, but then I looked further...

actually I think those are photos or pre-rendered, probably photos. The rest of the stuff though seems real-timish. Excellent work, in an ideal world thingies like this would be made for every city/interesting locale and incorporated into google earth, perhaps an advanced 3d buildings feature or something or in a separate viewport. That's just wishfull thinking for now though. Good that things like this are made, cheers!BRAINLESS wrote:When I looked at the first few screenshots on your site I thought the quality was low, but then I looked further...

They still add to the program, even if these are photographs.yuriythebest wrote:actually I think those are photos or pre-rendered, probably photos. The rest of the stuff though seems real-timish. though I'm not the author of this program, a simple approach would be to:leon wrote:Excellent work. I have to ask did you use map information for the terrain and if so how did you get it into Ogre/modeller. I am asking because I want to do something similar for the area I live. I have retrieved some gis information but can't seem to make a terrain from it in blender.
1.get the top-down basic view from google earth
2.take photos of buildings to be included
3.extract textures from those photos and use the photos themselves as guides to creating the buildings- in such apps extreem accuracy is not really needed as long as it looks good.
4.create the buildings on top of their top-down photo's from google earth
note:google earth can be substituted by any map
