Keep logging out

Post by MrD »

Around every 48 hours the OGRE forums seem to always log me out despite me having ticked "Keep me logged in". This happens on all my computers and it's getting a little annoying now.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Firefox 3.5.x on all my machines (Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows 7 32-bit, Ubuntu Linux 32-bit).

Argh, it's happened again and I only logged in this morning. Just come home, turn on my PC and find I am logged out. It's really frustrating and this seems to be the only forum/website it happens for.

If it makes any difference, I do often have Firefox save my last opened tabs (which usually involve a tab from this forum) so that they get restored when I next open Firefox.

I think login status is based on cookies (for most forums, anyway).

Maybe your cookies are being deleted.

It also depends on whether or not the web server was restarted. It happened to me twice in the past couple of days.
Do you need help? What have you tried?

Sounds about right for the times I was logged out too, it hasn't happened for 5 days now so that's likely the cause.

Another thing I've noticed is the clock on this server seems to be around 20 minutes slow, for reference, the time I'm posting this is 4:26 PM GMT and the forum shows it as 4:07 PM.

I have been logged in here continuously for a long time. The last time I logged here in was when I dumped IE for Firefox, some time ago (months, not years). So it isn't Firefox and it isn't a restart of this web server, by my guess. I would still bet on the cookies being deleted, probably from one of the options in the browser.

Probably some stupid antivirus deleted the so called tracking cookies?

Same here, and this is the only forum I visit that does it. I use Avast, but I've been logged in here solidly for 7 days now (and counting).
