I hear that they went down earlier this year - and then they went away just now - hopefully because they moved to a better server and the DNS hasn't propagated yet.

I doubt they would ever "go out of business", it doesn't operate like that. Besides, if it ever did struggle, it would have the backing of the whole industry.
