Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.hpp'
Hello everybody, im trying to learn the basics of Ogre so im sorry if my problem seems stupid but i couldnt find the answer on google ...i simply tried to compile the initial code from the 1st tutorial and here is what i get:
fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.hpp': No such file or directory
i found this problem also with other ogre examples and i cant figure out how to solve it, i guess it's a configuration problem..some hints?
thanks!

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
Download boost: http://www.boost.org/
Then configure your project to find the correct boost include directory.
It might also be possible to configure Ogre to not use threads, and thus manage to compile Ogre without boost. Check CMake.

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
If you are using the Ogre SDK, add OgreSDK/boost_1_42 to your list of includes, and OgreSDK/boost_1_42/lib to your list of library directories.

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
thanks for your answers! i solved it!...yes i had to add the boost_1_42 and boost_1_42/lib directories to the compiler options, but i still have a problem, if i try to build it now it gives me back a lot of these errors:
i've searched on google and it seems that i have to add to the linker options the directories for OgreMain.lib and OIS.lib, i did it but it is still not working..help!
Code: Select all

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
You'll also have to add Ogre's 'include' dir to your list of includes. If you're using Visual Studio C++, this is done by right clicking the project > properties > C/C++ > Additional Include Directories, and then adding the path to said directory to the text field.

Did you add OgreSDK/boost_1_42/lib to your list of library directories.
Sorry, actually now I think it's boost_1_44/lib, but I'm not sure. Judging from the library name, I assume that it is.

you mean $(OGRE_HOME)\boost_1_44\lib ?TechnoBulldog wrote:Did you add OgreSDK/boost_1_42/lib to your list of library directories.

it is under property pages -> configuration properties -> vc++ directories -> library directories

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
I have the same 'fatal error LNK1104' error, and I think the problem is that OGRE 1.7.2 doesn't contain libboost_thread-vc100-mt-gd-1_44.lib, but libboost_thread-vc90-mt-gd-1_42(?).lib. So I think we both need to update Boost for it to work. But I'm at work right now, so I can't test yetkapitanluffy wrote:thanks ..now im kinda getting used to it xDjacmoe wrote:That's great.kapitanluffy wrote:did this..

this time it gives me thisi did exactly what 'setting up an application' says..though i did not used precompiled headers.Code: Select all

edit: Did you happen to use the Ogre AppWizard (1.7.1)? 'Cause I did!

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
I found a possible solution to my/our problem:
Do you use Visual Studio 2010 with OgreSDK_vc90_v1-7-2? Because then you are doing it wrong :3
Download OgreSDK_vc10_v1-7-2, unpack and go at it!
I still used the vc90 version because I had Visual Studio 2008 installed, but replaced it for Visual Studio 2010 which broke Ogre :/

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
I'm having this problem but I'm definitely including the directory in my project properties. My team mate gave me a working project. It compiled fine for me the first time. When I started to make additions to the project it gave me this error. All I did was add an extra path in the additional directories. I then deleted that path, cleaned and rebuilt the project and I'm getting the same problem. Please help =(

is it a windows 7 issue

Re: Tutorial 1: Cannot open include file: 'boost/thread/tss.
Are you including your boost directory in the additional includes of your project?
Or is this when you're trying to compile the Ogre lib itself? If so, you have to make sure you set up the boost dir correctly in CMake.
it's definately not a Windows 7 issue, since I'm compiling Ogre without problems under Windows 7.
