That is the question.
it depends whether or not the forces of nature/aliens/deity has an internet connection

Ok, more in depth:

1. religious apocalypse: Well, its unlikely, against the rules of nature, but if it happens, its a good thing since we now can be sure there is an "afterlife"

I do believe in God, where einstein believed in God, who am i not to believe... But, at least in my religion, people believe that there will be apocalypse at the end, but, the word used in the holy book "kiyamet" does not correspond to "apocalypse" it corresponds to "enlightment" ("kiyam" = "stand up"), kinda like waking up from a dream... Anyway, still, forces of nature states that everything happens on purpose, so, a sudden apocalypse is very much unlikely...

2. nuclear apocalypse: Semi-unlikely, the countries which have them are not fools (actually they are, but not that fool enough, including mine :P)

Well, yeah, i know what you mean by tyrants/politicians, still, brain works in such a way that it has rules, motives and results etc... Although its a common profile for the movies that one mad man tries to destroy the whole world where the good guys prevent it, but in real life, i have never seen someone trying to destroy the whole world, because its nonsense, those guys still need "the world" to show what they have achieved, brag about it and continue their life on...

3. flood apocalypse: Very very unlikely, at least i will not be able to see it...

No, asteroids + ocean is not enough, you need the poles to melt down to be able to occupy majority of the land and thats not in near future...

4. zombie apocalypse: Impossible, there is yet no virus capable of re-animating the whole body...

Well, well, well, maybe if we were living in the WoW world...

5. alien occupation apocalypse: Thats more likely, its only when it happens that we can understand if a shovel is enough or not :P

Umm, i remember a farmer shooting down a military helicopter with a shotgun in gulf war II, so, why not :P

and what if it lands ON the pole??? what if it splits apart and lends on both poles and tilt the earth so that one of the poles faces the sun???? what if it brings its space shovel with it?? were DOOMED!
anyway, you can derive oceanPlanetApocalypse class from floodApocalypse and then you only need to add the meltPoles() method.

OMG found my eye ball ! (its a plastic ball filled with water and a toy eye inside)

All he needs his towel.

It's appropriate for holiday and the sudden event of him being captured by aliens and the Earth exploding.

towels are for space, so it only help on space related apocalypses.

To come back to the (probably more) original topic:
In case of an apocalypse only a handful of people might be able to survive because of their skills. Matt Ridley tells us why.

what really matters is how smart the collective brain is.
The QI of a group isn't the lowest QI in the group divided by the number of people in the group ?
We're doomed then :?
