sand castles?

Post by JaJDoo »

i usually don't wouldn't open a thread for a just another game, but i think this deserves some attention :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfKQCAxizrA

its called "From Dust", and in terms of dynamic visuals and material simulation its awe inspiring...
its the first god game in quite some time, and I'm crossing my fingers

....a next Black & White / Populus ?
some post from somewhere:
"So you basically want to make a car without a steering wheel because you don't know how to drive. I'd say learn how to use pointers"

Maybe, but B&W and Populous were done by Peter Molyneux, while Eric Chahi has a very different background (Another world, heart of darkness, and he has been studying volcanos for years).

Wow, That game looks awesome.

I personally love God games, but ubi soft is scary with their DRM, and I won't buy it if the DRM is anything like SilentHunter 5 was.

For most of the video I was thinking "Cool!"
Then it showed the bit where he rapidly lowered the large land area and all the water came crashing in and I thought "OH HELL YES!"

Back in June Eric said there will be a PC version, so hopefully the lack of PC mentioned at the end of the video doesn't mean it's been dropped.

That's indeed looking quite cool. Nice graphics and interesting concept.

Question is only: How to make a game out of this with some kind of story or anything to bind you to it longer than just two hours of exploring the land manipulation possibilities...
