Game dev blues

Post by pratty70 »

Totally off topic, after a frustrating morning the other day fixing some game issues I reached for the guitar and recorded some blues! First take recording. No dress rehearsal. Squeaks and squeals not edited out!

Technical info: recorded in garageband on iMac, Epiphone Les Paul Standard (cos my Fender Strat is in need of repair when I find my soldering iron) through a Line 6 guitarport.

Sweet groove. Nice warm sound on the guitar. Makes me want to drink whiskey.

Thanks Jabberwocky, it's one of those kick back moments where I needed my head away from the screen for 5.

I was asked by a facebook friend, wow what inspired that, the instant answer should have been half a bottle of scotch whiskey, but it was after a couple of sandwiches at lunchtime - not nearly as inspirational!

It's weird, every now and again I get an email from the forum saying someone has replied to this thread, and there's never any new posts on it.

Probably spam posts (especially if it is in really old threads), that already got deleted by mods when you wanted to read them :) .

Someone did post something derogatory about learning the blues properly, and I started to construct a heated reply, until i realised it was spam, by the time I'd finished typing the article had been removed, so I guess the same keeps happening.

Another long programming session led to me picking up the guitar again and creating the following

Coding can really fry your brain. I have found that taking a fifteen minute break every hour really helps. Playing music or even going for a walk can make a huge difference. I have discovered that I am much sharper when I return from the break.
