Hi,
I notice that people post questions in General, still related to Ogre3D. It was my understanding that General was more a forum for CG question such as this:
How can I use Algorithm X to create Y
while help:
How can I get scenemanager to do X in Ogre3d?
just curious about this.
thanks,
Francisco

Re: Differences between "General" & "Help" Forums here in Og
Because a lot of people just post in the first board on a forum without actually reading the description.I notice that people post questions in General, still related to Ogre3D.
Sometimes I think we should move Help to be the first board.
General can be anything graphics related. So new articles at siggraph, discussions on forward vs deferred rendering, ogre news, etc.
Help is for ogre help.
Back to Basics is for non ogre help.
Using Ogre In Practice is for larger Ogre discussions, rather than asking specific help questions.
I should probably move some topics. It's been building up a bit.

It's not that intuitive IMO... often "General" is what boards call their Lounge.

That's what the descriptions under the board name are for.

It seems to me very descriptive. In other boards, you will find a "off-topic", which we also have here.
as already stated, the description are there.
My understanding is
General: Computer Graphics related stuff and anything that does not fit in the other forums (except off-topic)
Help: Ogre-related help, in specific with coding.

Clearly it's not, or you wouldn't get people using the top 2 boards interchangeablyiblues1976 wrote:It seems to me very descriptive
I think unless you split into forums named "Ogre API", "Building Ogre", etc, you'll just have to live with it... or get more active moving threads to the right place!

Re: Differences between "General" & "Help" Forums here in Og
Just because people get confused, it doesn't mean that they are clear.
For example, I posted one thread in Help, while it could had been in "general", since I was asking about FPS... however, since I did with the specific purpose to get to help to do with with Ogre, I used the "help".
To me, if it is specific to Ogre and ones requires help, use Help. If it not specific to Ogre, then use general... it is not that hard...
Now, it doesn't bother me, I was just wondering, why so many people get confused... I don't think it is that hard to notice..
I'm just saying...
