Autism

Post by Zonder »

I was unsure if to post this or not, I am wondering if many of you are on the autism spectrum many programmers are.

I found out I am. I am classed as the high functioning type. There is a test that indicates you might be http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html

I score 38 / 50

In my eyes it's nothing bad I am considering getting the test put in the interview process at work

I scored 32. There seems to be an interesting pattern here.

35, but we already know I have Asperger's as my son was diagnosed with it. Being on the Autism spectrum, it is not surprising to see that figure show up.

For what it's worth, I noticed the similarities in the good developers some ten years back when my wife & I were talking about how couples in the company I worked for tended to be engineer/coder types paired up with teachers, nurses, and child-care workers for wives/girlfriends.

I only tested my self as my brother has recently been diagnosed with it and I behave similar to him but not in all respects. My wife is a child minder and worked mainly in the caring profession...
