Dying Light is out now.
I'm holding off getting it for now, there's a lot of complaints that after the tutorial the frame rate drops off drastically (like 50%). The devs are looking into it.
Of course the steam forums are overflowing with irrational people who think that if a game works ok for them, then everyone saying there's problems must be lying or stupid and deserve ridicule.

I rarely play games when they first come out (better to wait and let devs fix the bugs).

I think I will make an exception for Life is Strange, just cause it looks so awesome.

Pre-ordering X Rebirth taught me to hold off on major games until I learn more.
Although some games I'll still grab as soon as possible, such as Witcher 3.

Plus recent games are getting rather expensive. Dying Light on Steam is $71.99us in australia, but $59.99us in america.

I started playing Prison Architect.
I got it ages ago and played a bit of a tutorial, but put it off until later.
On sunday I started it up and made a serious attempt.
I seriously underestimated the cost and overestimated the time required, I only just got a semi working prison minutes before the first inmates arrived (I didn't know about turning off arrivals).
I built it up into a good small-ish prison. Everything was good. But then I tried using the clone tool and accidentally mis-clicked the destination, workers ran in and started tearing down the cell block walls! Luckily the prisoners were at lunch, I had to desperately fill in holes.
At day 7, I noticed the cooks had stopped cooking food. They had food, all kitchen stuff was working, they just wandered around the kitchen doing nothing. Prisoners were escorted into the canteen, sat there for two hours then taken back to their cells, in increasingly hostile moods. Fights were braking out, blood all over the hallways, not a happy place. I tried everything to fix it, but couldn't. Others on the forum have been running into this problem since 2013.
By day 11 (no prisoner had been fed since day 7) I found that the logistics connection between the cell block and the canteen had broken, so although the prisoners went to the canteen, the canteen told the kitchen that 0 meals were needed. There's no way to know this or fix it until you have researched micromanagement.
Now they could eat again.

After this, my prisoners were happy. No issues, stable number of 29 prisoners, every room type, every object type, every staff member. I could safely just leave it run.
It was highly addictive getting to this point, but now I've lost interest a bit. There's nothing new to do, just different arrangements of what I've already done.

I always though theme hospital was good as it was level based instead of just making you build a hole hospital. Maybe they should have tried somthing similar with prison architect (not that I can think of any ideas though)

I am waiting for Shadows: Heretic Kingdom to download decided to give it a go :)

I guess the continuing challenge is to start dealing with more complex prisons with protected inmates, high security, super max, etc.
But once you've built a prison successfully, repeat attempts don't really require skill to win. I know how it all works. I read about legendary characters that might turn up, they can kill dozens of guards. But with no direct control of guards, there's not much interaction. The game doesn't need me as such any more, it can play on it's own (until at least the entire inmate population has been released or paroled and I stop getting money).
It's still pretty fun.

Now starting my 6th day of waiting for my Geforce GTX 980 to be ready for pickup. Something else I ordered at the same time is out of stock so is holding up the order.
Once I get it I'll probably grab Dying Light (sounds like my GTX 680 wouldn't like it).

I'm 17 hours in to Wasteland 2. Pretty cool.

I tried starting Shadowrun Dragonfall. In the first mission I entered a house, walked to a room, shot a guy, and quit. Something about the user interface / controls / lack of any idea what's going on didn't grab me. Maybe I should try the first game first, it might get me into it better.

I've got an urge to replay the Penumbra series while I wait for SOMA.

Started Shadows: Heretic Kingdom (eventually forgot steam puts the game to the back of the queue so after downloading 10gb of data I realised it hadn't even started it yet!! grr..)

First impressions having video options outside of the game doesn't look good also CGI movies could do with been in a higher quality (not sure if they had a size restriction or not and had to cut them down. I ran it at 1080p which I expect will be the norm for most people).

But from there everything is really good quality. I started it on hard mode with the old school option on. So far hard feels more like normal but I am only a few levels in so can't judge that properly yet (not sure if it's easy trash mobs and hard boss mobs for instance).

Story line is good so far but not going to mention anything on that :)

Controls I'm not comfortable with them yet but I will customise anyway as I go along since I have a mmo mouse so I will find some things better on that than keyboard (I already moved the control for changing character). The best choice for one control is "Heal" you use space bar so not likely to miss! :). I am also thinking the thumb pad might be best on my keyboard for attacks not decided yet though.

Now the question would I recommend it to people definitely with what I have played so far :D

I finally had a couple of hours to try Infinifactory. Very addictive!
The first levels are rather easy, but even so you want to come back after you've completed them to see if there is a more optimal way of doing things.
Here is my moderately optimized factory for the small excavator :D

Infinifactory does look pretty cool. I should get it.

I started last night on Dying Light.
I haven't encountered any of the performance issues that apparently plagued the game at launch, my GTX980 takes the game on high detail without a single drop that I've noticed. (I haven't checked the actual framerate, but it feels fine)

Damn those zombies are painful at night. I got trapped in a small shack with 5 of them and a wrench. I didn't last long. :)

I'm slowly progressing toward the end of The Talos Principle.
It's very good but I have hard time finding play time where I am actually focused.

Here's a little plug.
Three of my co-workers (two game designers and a programmer) have a podcast called The 1st 10 Minutes.
http://the1st10minutes.com
Every week they each randomly select a game from their steam account that they haven't played. They play 10min of it, then report back to the other 2 what their thoughts on the game are (very heavy on design theory). 11 episodes are out so far (they recorded number 12 last night).

I played the first episode of Life is Strange. It was amazing (but short, just be aware). If you liked Gone Home you will like this.

Now I'm playing Crysis 3. Sadly the game runs like a dog (like a 15 frame per second dog) with triple screen 1440p. So I just have to play on one screen, but the 3D looks alright.

I finished Dying Light. (well, still a few side missions left to do)
I sadly guessed how it would end. No, not story wise, I mean gameplay. I just knew it would end up being a quick time event sequence. Up to that point the bosses involved actual good gameplay (jumping from cargo container to container while dodging boulders thrown by giant mutant zombies, etc). But then the game ends with a damn quick time sequence.
:(

I did really enjoy the game though.

Currently playing a bit of FTL, because I had to find a time-waster that would run on my old laptop. It's fun enough but I wouldn't say I was really hooked.

Before that I was playing a lot of Dead Rising 3. Just barely ran on my computer, using "fake" (z-depth) stereoscopic mode via messing with the nvidia driver settings. Looks pretty good in 3d and a lot of fun. But it's relatively nerfed compared to Dead Rising 2. I made the mistake of playing in Normal mode, need to play it in Nightmare mode to get the same almost-impossible feel of the 2nd game. Also they've included "super combo" weapons that make the game way too easy even in nightmare mode, as well as saferoom lockers that make it too easy to restock on equiptment.

Super-combo weapons are great fun at first. After struggling for half a game it's incredibly liberating to be able to mow down hundreds, even thousands of zombies, and rack up killstreaks and levels like there's no tomorrow. But then suddenly you realize the challenge is all gone. So next time I'm going to have a "no super combos, no lockers" self-imposed rule.

The vehicles are really fun, the city is huge, there are zombies upon zombies upon zombies everywhere and it's super violent. Also really fun in two play co-op, though it can be very difficult to find someone to play with unless you organize it in advance. I really liked it, but they messed up the challenge as mentioned.

Finished Talos Principle (both endings, but without the cat, not all stars).

It was very good, in particular the last part was very fun.

I went back to Splinter Cell Black List.
I guess it's better than Splinter Cell Conviction, but I still think Chaos Theory was the peak of the series (I really liked Double Agent too, it was my first splinter cell game).

The game really has a distasteful focus on money. The way it pops up messages in the map screen like "Shoot 4 more people in the face with an assault rifle for $10000" just feels wrong. Sam isn't a mercenary, he's trying to stop terrorists.

There's no mini games either. No hacking, no lock picking. Just press a button to do it.

I bought Cities Skylines. Looks very nice. I only played a few minutes, the tutorial seems pretty broken/confusing. I made some roads, put down a residential zone, a few houses appeared. I put down some wind turbines and power lines, all the houses but one went away. I added water pipes and a water pump. I ran out of cash. I'll try again later. :)

I'm playing Dreamfall Chapters. It's actually cool (after you get past the horribly designed and infuriatingly hard first part).

Looking to check Battlefield Hardline next. Hopefully it will work with triple-screens (BF4 does). I haven't had too much luck with it lately.

I've just started playing Fallout: New Vegas. I know, I'm not exactly up to date on my game playing. It's been sitting among all my other unplayed steam games, and I figured I'd give it a go. Feels like Borderlands without the humor or black outline, but more missions and more detail RPG character. I like the Pip Boy. Also it runs well in 3DVision stereoscopic.

I failed at completing Dead Rising 3 in Nightmare mode. Difficult went from super easy in normal mode to super hard in Nightmare mode. I ended up using both super-combo weapons and safe house closets even though I said I woudln't, but I still ran out of time and the city was firebombed before I could finish. I'd started at level 0 and was too slow and casual in the first half. Next time I'll start at level 30 and race to complete the storyline missions, see if I can beat it that way.
