Where is new cegui meshviewer?

Post by jacmoe »

I think we lost the thread on the new crossplatform meshviewer done with cegui.
I am very interested in hearing how it goes! :)

And would be happy to see some of the code. I am thinking of doing an in-game editor, and this meshviewer would be good reference material.

If you havn't noticed, I've been trying to get everyone working on some kind of editor to post their code in CVS somewhere. That way if the projects go inactive we can know/pick it up if we want to. =)

Good idea Clay, I was thinking along the same lines with all Ogre demos/games that are opensource (or not licensed) as they always seem to fade into the midsts. Thank goodness for sourceforge so that this is possible.

Specifically I would like to see some of the games (YAT, Walabers Stunt game (if he wants to) and others) put up on CVS's somewhere. The reason for this is so that the possibility for inclusion into linux distributions is possible. I think of some of the current games that are included in Fedora or other linux distributions, and they are sorely lacking in some good old classic fun that can be acheived with a couple of hours with some of these Ogre games.

<sorry for the thread jacking, did I really just do that  >

I also would like to see the CEGUI Meshviewer come back (I wanted to link to it the other day and noticed it was gone :( ).

We're always very happy to include these kinds of projects in ogreaddons, but not everyone wants to do this.

Hello, everyone, I'm the one behind the CEGUI meshviewer (which I'm still working on, albeit slowly :) ) so here's the link again

http://pdb.homelinux.org/cegui_meshviewer.tar.bz2

I'd been out of town lately and when I logged back into the forums I realised the meshviewer thread was gone!! Then I found out the forums had been hacked and a couple more threads hadn't made it to the backup. I can't believe there are people out there who are lame enough to do something like this. I'm just so glad someone kept a reasonably up-to-date backup.

@jacmoe: I'm afraid my code is not much good as a reference, but if you find it useful for your editor, be my guest...

This is still the first version, I've made some changes already but I'd like to add some more features before posting a new release.

Welcome back! And thank you for the link!

Would you be interested in submitting it to the CVS? :)
That way it could be developed faster!

Of course! I'd be honoured :) If it's okay with the admins perhaps they could give me further details on how to make the initial import?

I have no say on ogreaddons, but whether or not you get your own sourceforge project or be allowed a project in ogreaddons, you have to register with sourceforge as a developer.
After that you can either convince the Ogre heads that you be a ogreaddon developer, or submit your own project to sourceforge.

Either way, I'm sure it would help get this cegui meshviewer flying! :)

And, please: be honored - this project rocks! 8)

Thanks for the encouragement! :)

I'm already registered as a developer at SourceForge since I'm also taking part in other projects. Anyway, I'm going to try and get in touch with one of the admins to see if they're willing to include this in ogreaddons and if that fails I'll probably register a new project at SF.

Just mail one of us your Sourceforge account and we'll sort it out.

Ok, if anyone's interested, the latest code for the mesh viewer is now in ogreaddons under ceguimeshviewer.

Thanks again, sinbad :)
